If I could give it a billion stars to thank the amazing staff, the wonderful food and atmosphere!!!! The hotel itself is beautiful, but Alejandro (Alex), Claudio and Aldo have made it a magical experience. The most amazing people!!! Kind and extraordinarily helpful. The wonders they have done to the experience in Lake como is unbelievable, we have stayed in Bellagio, and in Menaggio we have gone to the Victoria beach hotel where the food was very average and nothing beats the atmosphere and food that we’ve experienced at Grand Hotel Menagio thanks to the amazing staff!!! As a group of 5 we have all agreed the next Como trip is not going to be a time waste, and we will be heading directly to Menagio Hotel to revisit the staff :) Thankful for the experience and kindness they have exerted. Prices unbelievably good, 1000/10 recommend, wish I took more pictures :(

Great Hotel in great location and worth a visit !
The rooms as mentioned by others are a little small and perhaps outdated but don't let this put you off, as the hotel is beautifully located by the lake, next to the ferry terminal and maybe 300 yards from a very quaint square full of life and restaurants. Menaggio in our opinion is the best place to stay around Lake Como so why not pick the super hotel and visit Bellagio and Varenna at your leisure. The breakfast is excellent and sitting eating outside while looking out onto the lake makes the whole experience exceptional. The bar is super and there are plenty of sunbeds around a very clean and comfortable swimming pool. My only downside based on the number of Americans visiting, is that costs are high and the tipping culture is creeping in. As an example the ferry trip to Bellagio is 11 euros return each. The hotel present you on checking in, with a full A4 advert offering individual trips by private boat to Bellagio with a 1 hour stay before returning. The boat trip is 20 minutes duration. The cost quoted was 400 euros per person which we apologetically gave reception some grief about but they were insistent that was the price ! Not 800 for the whole boat with 10 people paying 80 euros each but 400 per person ! This we thought was outrageous and does of course then make you suspicious of anything else bought in the hotel, such as a bottle of water which we thought should have been supplied for free. In conclusion, a great hotel, great breakfast, great views great location but be careful about any extras you buy in the hotel.

Check in was a painful process. Hotel room smells like mold. Staff by restaurant were excellent. I think this is good for Menaggio overall but not the best hotel by any means.

Great location just next to ferry, but when lying on sundeck not so great with a bunch of people looking. We were only there for 1 night, but enjoyed our stay.
Only negative things were lady in reception being extremely slow and not very accomodating. No smile from her or welcome at all. I would assume that should be included in the very high price that we paid for this night.
Other not so great thing was this musician playing keyboard and singing on the terraze deck on the night. He was really not that great and ruined the nice evening outside.
Breakfast was amazing though.
Only negative things were lady in reception being extremely slow and not very accomodating. No smile from her or welcome at all. I would assume that should be included in the very high price that we paid for this night.
Other not so great thing was this musician playing keyboard and singing on the terraze deck on the night. He was really not that great and ruined the nice evening outside.
Breakfast was amazing though.

The hotel is located in a fantastic lake front area. Weather you want to enjoy the pool or the lake, you are only steps away.
The common areas of the hotel are beautiful and with classic Italian elegance. They are a bit dated, but still very nice.
The room we got was the only one available so we can’t complain about the lack of views and small size. However, this summer was quite warm and the AC was practically non existent. That is the biggest issue. We slept every night sweating and trying to see if we could tolerate an open window with street noise and a warm breeze, or just being warm with the noisy, but totally inefficient AC.
That being said, the staff is wonderful and the fact that they offer free parking was a huge benefit for us.
Also, the property is right next to the ferry terminal and this comes in very handy if you want to check out the nearby villages.
I would certainly stay there again but in a different room.
