Lovely hotel and staff
The pool outback was nice and secluded and not overly busy.
It's located within walking distance of the town centre, restaurants, coffee shops and rail station.
The only downside to our stay was the 2 single beds pushed together to make a double.
The rooms are big with walk in wardrobes.
We would definitely recommend this place. The funicular railway was also just a 10 minute walk away which is a must when visiting montecatini.
If you do stay here. Make the short rail journey to Lucca. Stunning place. We had a full day there and loved it.

EXPERIENCE NOT TO BE REPEATED
It is with deep disappointment that I find myself reviewing my recent stay at this property. Despite the official four-star rating, the reality of the matter describes an environment that is neglected and totally devoid of minimum standards of hospitality and hygiene.
Since our entrance, the accommodation assigned to us has proved inadequate: a small room with very low light, whose atmosphere was more reminiscent of a basement than a hotel room. The carpet, visibly worn, conveyed an immediate feeling of poor hygiene.
The night's rest, unfortunately, was a mirage. The self-styled double bed was nothing more than a postic combination of two single beds, extremely uncomfortable and unstable. To this was added intolerable noise pollution: the drain pipes of the adjacent room, located right at the head of the bed, produced deafening noises with each use, making sleep impossible.
The sanitary section represented the lowest point of the stay: We found traces of foundation, evident legacy of previous guests on the soap dispenser, a sign of superficial and unacceptable cleaning.
Maintenance absent: The old faucets and defective shower enclosure caused a real flood. At the end of the shower, we were forced to use the entire equipment of towels to stem the "sea of water" that had invaded the floor.
Ultimately, the structure appears to be strongly dated and lacking the care that should distinguish a hotel of this category. The gap between the expectations generated by the stars on display and the service actually provided is unbridgeable.
I highly recommend the stay to anyone looking for comfort and hygienics. A management that needs a radical restructuring both structural and cleaning protocols.
I would also like to prevent any justification based on the rate applied. I have noted that the management, in response to other similar complaints, maintains that the quality of the accommodation is proportional to the price paid.
I would like to clarify that the guest has the inalienable right to receive a decent accommodation. Housing with such obvious structural deficiencies, plumbing problems and rough cleaning should not be offered to the public, but removed from availability until a proper renovation.
Claiming that decorum and hygiene are "optional" related to price is an insult to professionalism and a blatant admission of inadequacy for a four-star establishment.

Good sized, clean room. Friendly, helpful staff. The underground car park is a bit of tight squeeze but handy other options seem limited.

Honest review - Not 4 Star by a long shot
Breakfast - beautiful dining room, eggs were amazing and lots of choice for a European continental breakfast. Coffee was amazing as to be expected in Italy.
Parking - you can pay €10 for garage parking or park in blue bays (in street or car park next to hotel) for €3.50 a day. We chose the latter.
Swimming pool - small but plenty of loungers and towels, very refreshing after spending the day exploring the local area. It's open from 0900 to 1900
Hotel is dated and in it's prime I'm sure would have been an exclusive place to stay, sadly it feels worn and shabby in parts.
Staff have been lovely and friendly.
Would we stay again? No - this is more to do with our preference of a villa over hotel but for £60 a night including breakfast it certainly doesn't rank in one of the worst places I've stayed. It was clean with a comfy bed and good shower. Pillows were very thin so you may need to request more pillows as we only had two.
Montecanti terme and alto are lovely but we preferred the vibe in Lucca

Good location, clean rooms and Julia the receptionist is brilliant.
Room was ready within 20 minutes of arrival even though we had arrived before noon.
Room was compact but had everything you would need including a large Bathroom and a great shower.
All the staff at reception were friendly and helpful as was the barman Simione.
Breakfast was from 7.30 to 10.30 and could be taken on the terrace. Food availability was ok pastries and croissants were good cold meats and cheese was good, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs with Italian sausage.
Limited fruit and when I asked for a banana I was told it was not possible. Tea and coffee from a machine as was the juices. Orange, mixed juice and carrots and pineapple juice but only in a plastic glass, think we should have had a glass for a 4 star hotel.
Staff in the breakfast room were not very friendly, perhaps because we came down at around 10 but never delayed them, we got everything we needed and enjoyed it al fresco.
Lifts are very small and might be a problem for someone in a large wheelchair.
Bar closed at 11pm which no residents bar. Think it should have stayed open till 12 midnight at least.
Overall an enjoyable stay and Julia is the star employee who is friendly, helpful and a real asset to the hotel.
