Well Come Cultura - Santa Lucia is not just a guest house with all the amenities, furnished with antique furniture. It is a center with a rich cultural program offered to its guests, including excursions either individually or in small groups (2-6 people). The location near the seaport and Piazza Plebiscito makes it easy and simple to get to the guest house from the airport and then enjoy walking around the sights of the city. Public transport will also help you in some cases. You will be warmly welcomed and accommodated in your room. There are few of them, from standard to luxury. In addition to my pre-planned program, I booked one excursion from the host projects: “Spanish Quarters and Pizza”, since it was a night walk and I would never have gone there alone! Prof. kindly gave me the tour. Maurizio told me a lot of interesting things. This is not a 1-2 hour run around the city, but a calm 6-hour walk from one place to another, accompanied by a measured narration from your guide, revealing one secret of the object after another. And you feel not like a silent contemplator, but a student who is also drawn into the conversation, sometimes even with questions. On the square The plebiscito building with a colonnade looks like a Catholic cathedral, but you suddenly find out that the statues on the building represent a mixture of eras in their attire and attributes, and inside the building your attention is drawn to the image of the symbol of the Freemasons... Here are the Spanish quarters, stretching along the narrow streets of the city leading up and down, up and down the steps... Here is a pizzeria, where in a relaxed atmosphere you are treated to 4 types of pizza and all sorts of other goodies with a glass of white and then red wine and a sip of bitters and limoncello... The walk continues, and you find out everything more and more about the city and its inhabitants, the mafia and the historical periods of the city, its architecture and features... And here is a round pedestal in Toledo, where you will suddenly be pushed to look into the depths of the metro station of the same name... And here you can sit on a bench and relax, and you will be treated to the most delicious ice cream from Mennella... A street whose name you will not find on the map, but Neapolitans know about it - Spaccanapoli - will hint to you that soon the night will separate you from your companion, just as this street divides Naples into two parts, and you will be let down to your guest house... Delight and a sea of impressions overwhelm me even upon returning home. Many thanks to Well Come Cultura and the team!

Unfortunately, aside from the host, both the room and the property are extremely dated and poorly maintained. While the mattress was comfortable, the rest of the room was not. There is no proper wardrobe, only a basic coat rail, which is impractical even for a short stay.
The windows are very old and poorly insulated, so you can hear everything from the street, especially very early in the morning due to deliveries to nearby bars and restaurants.
The bathroom was frankly a farce. It is extremely tiny and showed no sign of proper maintenance. The shower was covered in limescale, difficult to regulate between hot and cold, and the shower head had to be held by hand. The shower tray was quite unpleasant. The sink was blocked and we had to remove the drainage stopper ourselves to make it usable.
Overall, the guest house is in serious need of major and basic renovations. Everything feels old, worn and neglected.
Would we go back? No.

Go anyplace except Well Come Cultura-Santa Lucia
The various listings show this as an idyllic accommodation, with period antiques and cultural offerings. Nothing could be further from the truth. The only public areas consist of two windowless halls with motion detecting lights. There is no dining room, library, or reception desk. There are two culturally offensive statues of black slaves in the main hall. The place was deserted when we were there.
The bathroom is gross. There was lots of mold and mildew in the shower. No towel bars. The toilet is electric and sounds like a very large, old garbage disposal. The toilet typically activates when you flush, but may go off at anytime. It is so loud and startling as to wake others in the room, and indeed neighbors. When we were there, one night, someone came in late at night next door to us and the snoring was very loud through the wall. We also heard the toilet flush next door, waking us up.
My wife did not feel secure and safe here. I did not feel safe on the street out front. We had a one week reservation and left after one night. "The Professor" who manages the place made it seem as is our fault, and could not understand our complaints. The place has a no refund policy and so far we are out $1700 for unused nights. We made the reservation on Booking.com, and they have been no help with my complaint.
