European road trip

an excellent place to stay, we came across it while on a road trip in Europe. We where a family of four staying, Hitler was comfortable and had beautiful gardens and heartwarming views, the pool and facilities where excellent, the glass lift was a nice effect

They took the money and closed the hotel

I booked for a group and had to postpone the event due to Covid. Since they had changed the mail address they initially did not want to postpone the event since they did not receive the mail within the 3 months period before the initial booking.
Finally they granted me a voucher.
When I wanted to redeem the voucher it took me a lot of trouble finally getting a hold on them which I finally managed via STAYINCORTINA.
But they blankly refused to honor the voucher saying that it was for this year. But this year they are close.
In short. A BUNCH OF CROOKS LIKE I HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED IN THE 16 YEARS I HAVE BEEN DOING BUSINESS IN ITALY.

Better quality from a B&B than here.

This self awarded 5-star hotel is not to be compared with 5-star Forbes/ 5-diamond AAA awarded hotels. The 5-star rating is misleading as it doesn't provide the service or quality of such a rating. The bedroom furnishings were in bad condition and the carpet was stained and discoloured. The shower was connected to the tap and with no fixtures to hang it to the wall. Some towels were worn through and there was an assortment of different branded toiletries. Breakfast - fruit salad from a tin! I don't think the pastries were made in-house either. The quality was basic but plentiful. Billard room was equipped with half the number of balls needed and cues without tips or chalk. Wifi didn't work in our room, terraces or by the pool.
This castle hotel has the potential to be so much better. If they want it to be 5-star then they should charge 5-star prices and provide the service and quality that is expected. It's a half-hearted effort to be superior.

Beautiful surroundings

We visited as part of a wedding party. The views from the castle and rooms are breathtaking. If you appreciate the building is old and all part of the experience then the accommodation is fine (it’s not a 5 star luxury hotel). The food we ate was good, breakfast plentiful and staff polite.

So much potential but unexploited

The romantic castle experience we were looking for was not to be found. The hotel is obviously suited for large wedding parties etc but not for someone seeking the medieval Castel experience. The room we had in the Borgo area could use some serious upgrades, starting with more modern bathroom. Funding the entry way with our car was a battle, but the free parking was a plus in this small hill too town. The castles though seems to be in an original state and makes for some great photography as does the surrounding area!
