Not a very safe area....I would look in the areas closer to the water
We had 5 days in Palermo but I would strongly recommend only 2 days in the city and closer to the sea in a better area

Do not stay in this hotel.
I am genuinely surprised by the positive reviews and the star rating Palazzo Brunaccini promotes. This was one of the most disappointing hotel stays of our trip to Sicily.
The location was a major issue for us. While the hotel advertises its proximity to the Ballarò market, we found the surrounding area to be dirty, chaotic, and uncomfortable. We did not feel safe walking around the neighborhood, particularly after dark. If you are expecting the charming, elegant Palermo portrayed in travel brochures, this is not it.
The room itself was equally disappointing. The pipe leading to the shower head leaked badly, causing water to spray throughout the bathroom every time the shower was used. The bed was rock hard, and the pillows were so flat that they offered virtually no support. Getting a comfortable night’s sleep was nearly impossible.
What is most frustrating is that this hotel presents itself as an upscale boutique property. In reality, the accommodations felt dated, poorly maintained, and far below the standard one would expect for the price. I have stayed in far nicer three-star hotels throughout Europe. Calling this a luxury boutique hotel is, in my opinion, extremely misleading.
Palermo has many wonderful places to stay. Unfortunately, Palazzo Brunaccini was not one of them. I would not return, and I would strongly encourage other travelers to look elsewhere.
Very good location
