Perfect stay for a 30th birthday trip to Rome

Perfect stay for my partners 30th Birthday trip. The staff at the hotel went above and beyond to make this a special stay for us, making sure we got the room with a private terrace and a surprise bottle of red wine & sweets on arrival, followed by a personalised happy birthday note.
The location is also perfect with only a 3 minute walk from the Colosseum, exit the hotel, turn a corner and it’s right there !
Breakfast is a lovely selection of Italian breakfast choices, perfect to start your day exploring.
We can’t begin to thank every staff member enough for their happy nature and care to details

Already recommended to friends

We had a lovely stay. The rooms were comfortable, with excellent air conditioning, and it was a nice touch to have complimentary water and useful essentials such as cotton buds and hair bobbles provided.
The location is fantastic, right in the centre of Rome, making it easy to explore the city. The staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they were especially lovely with our son, making him feel really included throughout our stay.
We also took part in one of the hotel’s complimentary walking tours, hosted by Julia, which was excellent. It was a great way to learn more about the local area and a really worthwhile addition to our stay.
There was some noise outside on both the Saturday and Sunday nights, but that’s to be expected when staying in such a central location, so it’s not really the hotel’s fault.
We had breakfast included with our package, and there was a good selection of food each morning. Overall, we’d happily stay here again.

Peaceful Location and Great Staff, But Rooms Need a Refresh

If you are looking for a quaint and quiet escape from the typical Roman hustle and bustle, this hotel hits the mark. Location-wise, it is literally a cobblestone’s throw from the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, which is incredible. However, keep in mind that the heartbeat of the city (Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, restaurant strips, major piazzas etc.) is a solid 15 to 30-minute walk away, so be prepared to get your steps in!
On the operational side, having a 24/7 reception desk is a highly valuable asset, and coming back to a freshly cleaned room every day was much appreciated. The breakfast provided was fine to get the morning started, though nothing to rave about.
Where the hotel falls short is the actual room condition. The room we stayed in was small and is definitely due for an uplift and rejuvenation. There was noticeable wear and tear, including scratched floors, marks on the walls, and a shower door that frequently came off its hinge.
Overall, it was a pleasant stay saved primarily by its peaceful atmosphere and proximity to the ancient sites, but given the need for maintenance, it is a 3.5 star experience at best.

Fantastic service, great location and excellent value for money

We stayed at Hotel Fori Imperiali Cavalieri in June for a few nights before heading off on a cruise. We were three couples – my husband and I, together with our parents – and from the moment we arrived, we were genuinely impressed.
Our first impression was how clean, charming and beautifully renovated the hotel was. The location is fantastic and offers excellent value for money, within easy walking distance of the Colosseum and plenty of great restaurants.
The rooms were a good size, very clean and comfortable, with excellent air conditioning – something we definitely appreciated during summer in Rome! The bathrooms were fresh and clean, with a great shower. Our room faced a quiet back street, and it was so peaceful that we actually had to set an alarm to wake up in the morning.
What really made our stay special, however, was the staff and the level of service. The welcome and check-in experience were outstanding – 110% service from a team who always greeted us with a smile. When the staff heard that we were travelling to celebrate our parents’ golden wedding anniversary, they surprised us with a bottle of Prosecco before our first evening out. My husband also celebrated his birthday during our stay, and without us mentioning it, we returned to our room to find Prosecco and chocolates waiting for him. These thoughtful gestures made us feel genuinely welcome and cared for.
Breakfast was simple, but had everything we needed. If we had to suggest two small improvements, a better toaster and improved juice at breakfast would make it even better.
The rooftop terrace at the hotel itself was perhaps not the main highlight, although we were told that the nearby sister hotel has a lovely rooftop terrace which, unfortunately, we didn’t get the chance to experience.
Overall, the location, service and value for money are difficult to beat. We would absolutely recommend Hotel Fori Imperiali Cavalieri and there is no doubt where we will stay the next time we visit Rome.
We will be back!
