Truly a magical place

On Valentine's weekend we stayed with pleasure in this lovely place... and indeed magical... is offered a .accoglienza with class and style, a glass of bubbles with a delicious homemade appetizer... new structure in a modern key maintaining the typicality of the montagna..la thing that we liked most definitely the view from the room on the mountains all surrounded by snow. The tranquility and peace that reigns here is really incredible.... only 10 rooms... an intimate and cute spa and a small Jacuzzi overlooking the Dolomites ... the best breakfast we have ever had with local products of your choice in quality of sustainability with homemade tastings ... from cheese .. speck . butter with chives, rye bread, marinated trout, apricot soufflé ... delicious apple drinks .. dinner at the restaurant with two Michelin stars something imperial throughout . an unforgettable experience .. from service, to hot bread .. with alpine butter, pike perch to delicious barbecue, ravioli with smoked trout .. egg with morchelle and caviar d superlativo .. for Valentine's dinner we chose the tasting menu earth experience.... friendliness and professionalism of the Schneider family really worthy of note .. congratulations .. we will be back .

Paradise on earth

Wonderful stay in a top hotel, in a totally quiet location with warm and professional staff. What the pair of siblings conjured up in the mountains is unique. We will keep dreaming of the 10-course menu until the next time. Many thanks for this wonderful stay.

The magic place: So close to heaven

Surrounded by the impressive Alps, at an altitude of 1600 metres, this restaurant and hotel is enthroned, awarded two Michelin stars. Even the journey was an experience. After a good night’s sleep and breakfast in the Kuppelrain restaurant, you should head to Bolzano or Merano for a sightseeing tour. But the rain made a dent in the plans. Already while loading the car you got soaking wet. On the way through the Venosta Valley, the rain continued to increase. In Bolzano the road became narrow, and only after the new tunnel did the view into the Sarntal valley open. Here the rain finally subsided.
In Sarntheim the winding ascent to the hotel began. The road – rather forest and dirt roads – winds through green meadows and dense forest. Finally, the first clue to the hotel appeared, but still with the old name “Auererer Hof”. With every kilometre travelled, the anticipation grew until you finally stood in front of the hotel and restaurant. The building blends harmoniously into the alpine landscape: Wood and stone characterize the appearance, and large windows open up views of the surrounding peaks.
Gisela Schneider received us warmly. She runs the house together with her brother Heinrich. The room offered direct access to the garden and stunning mountain views. The decor: cozy and stylish. Fortunately, even Irmtraud’s complaints – dizziness due to the winding approach and altitude – disappeared when the evening menu began.
At 7 p.m. the evening menu began. The dining room is a fine architectural work of art. Open to under the wooden-clad roof, a large window front both towards the entrance and towards the garden with views of the peaks of the surrounding Alps. Here you had the feeling that the skies were within reach. The tables with pleasantly large spacing
The menu is already on the table in the blue envelope. It changes according to the season and offers regional specialities interpreted in a modern way. Each dish tells a story and carries the flair of the mountains. Whether meat dishes with local herbs or freshly caught fish – tradition meets innovation here.
I'm not going to go into all the details of the food. However, it must be mentioned that each individual dish contained at least one wild herb from the region.
The selection of amuse bouche combines creative ideas with classic techniques and highlights each ingredient. Each dish is a feast of flavours and tells its own story and ensures that you can enjoy an unforgettable taste experience. We particularly liked the artfully crafted beetroot macaron. Its earthy sweetness is perfectly staged by the light Tramin rice foam
South Tyrol is known for its culinary delights, and the two fishing passages with rainbow trout and brown trout reflect this in an impressive way. It is interesting to note that marine fish are deliberately dispensed with here. Instead, the fresh, regional fish will be the focus. The rainbow trout also included lightly smoked trout caviar, served in a charming Cornetto bag, this was not only a visual delight, but also a taste highlight. The caviar provides a subtle smoke note. Separately, a trumpet mushroom bread with reindeer lichen is served. Here, however, the geographical boundary of the region is crossed.
The brown trout is elegantly hidden under a wafer-thin dill jelly, which gives the dish a refreshing lightness. This creative presentation shows how multi-faceted and refined regional cuisine in South Tyrol can be.
Very interesting “The Blue Box” You should guess a certain ingredient. While the sea buckthorn-fennel drink and elderflowers offered nothing out of the ordinary at first glance, it was the tartlet that really made me wonder. With a slight tingling sensation on my tongue, a hidden ingredient revealed itself to me. Gisela Schneider, the host of the evening, solved the mystery for us: The well-known “effervescent powder” was hidden in the dough. A brilliant idea that added a refreshing touch to the dessert!
I had minor problems with the “teacermony. Various herbs such as golden balm, thyme and clove were used, but the individual flavors seemed to disappear in the overall flavor. Perhaps the tea should simply have sucked longer to reach its full potential
Conclusion: A place for gourmets
Gisela Schneider skillfully guided us through the evening and provided a pleasant atmosphere. I also took the opportunity to have a short chat with Brother Heinrich, who was as charming and likeable as his sister.
After this exquisite evening meal, the hotel invited you to let your senses rest. In the morning, looking out the window, I was able to see how the rising sun gave the landscape a special shine and started the day with positive energy.
This magical place is more than just a restaurant or hotel; it is an experience for all the senses. Here, where you can embrace nature and the sky seems within reach, peace seekers and gourmets will find their perfect retreat. It is the ideal place to escape everyday life and be enchanted by the alpine beauty and exquisite cuisine. A visit to this magical place is not only a journey, but an unforgettable adventure in the heights of the Alps.
