Incredible views, great service, and a very comfortable stay

I stayed at Hotel Residence Le Terrazze on a trip to Sorrento with friends. They had chosen the hotel, so I really did not know what to expect going in, but I ended up having a very positive experience.
The first thing to know is that the hotel is quite high up in the hills above Sorrento. The location is a big part of what makes the views so incredible, but it also means you cannot simply walk into town. You will need to use the hotel's free shuttle or take a taxi down the long, winding road. The shuttle was very reliable and convenient, although definitely be there a few minutes early because it leaves on time and will not wait for you.
The views from the hotel are spectacular and were one of the highlights of the stay. One evening we were also lucky enough to watch an amazing fireworks show over the water for a national holiday, which was pretty unforgettable.
The pool area was very nice, and I really appreciated having breakfast included every morning. The bar was also a great convenience throughout the day, whether I wanted an ice-cold bottle of water or an Aperol Spritz.
Our rooms were clean and comfortable, with an interesting layout that seemed especially well suited for families. There were quite a few families and children staying at the property, so that is worth keeping in mind depending on the type of trip you are planning.
What stood out most to me was the service. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and helpful, and the property was kept very clean. I also had to deal with an unexpected medical emergency during my stay, and the front desk staff could not have been more accommodating, kind, and helpful at a stressful moment. I was very grateful for the way they handled everything.
Overall, this is a great choice if you value beautiful views, good service, a pool, and a quieter setting above Sorrento and do not mind relying on the shuttle to get into town.

Very disappointing stay

Very disappointing trip overall. The staff tried really hard to be helpful but unfortunately this did not compensate for the inadequacies of the hotel.
Breakfast and bar choice was extremely limited
The pool area was grubby with only 1 parasol for shade and ants all over the sun beds
The room was kept clean but the sink was cracked and plaster was peeling off the wall next to the bed
The only redeeming feature of the hotel was the view over Sorrento due to its position up a steep hill

Wouldn’t recommend

We really wouldn’t recommend staying here. The staff were lovely and very accommodating, but unfortunately, the hotel itself is really lacking when it comes to cleanliness and overall upkeep.
The complimentary breakfast wasn’t really worth having, and unfortunately, the sunbeds were riddled with ants, which resulted in us coming home covered in bites. The pool and sunbeds also go into the shade by around midday, so there isn’t much opportunity to enjoy the pool in the afternoon.
Another issue was the glass window beside the door, which allowed a lot of light into the room from around 5am, making it difficult to sleep.
The shuttle bus into Sorrento is a nice touch and was useful, but please be aware that there are **no restaurants or shops within walking distance of the hotel**. This means you need to rely on the shuttle bus to get into Sorrento each evening, which can be quite inconvenient.
Overall, while the staff were friendly and helpful, we unfortunately wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

Family Stay with Stunning Views and Exceptional Service

We stayed here as a family with our 16 and 13-year-old sons and had a fantastic holiday. The apartments were even better than the photos on Booking.com – they looked recently refurbished, were spotlessly clean, modern, incredibly spacious, and very well equipped. The mezzanine level was perfect for the boys, while we had our own separate bedroom. The air conditioning worked brilliantly, and the terrace overlooking the stunning views was a real highlight.
The staff were absolutely wonderful – friendly, attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. Communication before our stay was excellent, with lots of useful information provided in advance, and they even stayed late to welcome us after our flight was delayed.
There were always plenty of sunbeds available around the pool, with pool towels provided on request. We also appreciated the complimentary bottled water on arrival and the free breakfast upgrade for all guests, which was a lovely surprise.
The restaurant at the neighbouring hotel is well worth visiting – great food, fantastic value, and beautiful terrace views. The complimentary shuttle bus runs hourly (apart from a break at lunchtime) and was really useful. We'd also highly recommend the Masseria lemon farm experience – it was one of the highlights of our trip.
The only downsides were that there's nowhere within walking distance for shops, so a small on-site shop would be a welcome addition. Also, while the shuttle bus is great heading into town (you're first on, so always get a seat), it can be very busy on the return journey in the evening, meaning you may have to stand or even wait for the next bus. Taxis cost around €50–70, so it's worth planning your days around the shuttle timetable. This suited us perfectly, but if you prefer to be more spontaneous, it's something to bear in mind.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. The combination of the breathtaking views, spacious accommodation, excellent staff, and fantastic value made it a memorable family holiday.

Best view, best staff

Among the winding roads is this hotel. We booked a family room, which even had a small kitchenette. The view of the volcano and the bay.
Very nice staff, who were very accommodating and the willingness to do things for you was there all the time.
Free shuttle bus down to Sorrento and back.
