Lovely little traditional Italian hotel right in the heart of Stresa. On the main square in a pedestrian area - owners are onsite and very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great and coffee fabulous also had a good bar with a terrace on the square - lovely for a coffee, beer or cocktail. Beds very comfortable and very nice sheets and towels.
No air con but good ceiling fans in the rooms and serviced daily. I had a room overlooking the square and it was lovely sitting in the evening or watching the sunset. Would definitely stay here again if in the area. Great location to explore lots of other places on the lake as boat departures only a couple of minutes walk away.

Great place for a light lunch

This review is of the hotel bar elena on the piazza Cadorna Stresa, the bar on the piazza Cadorna served panninis and other meals but it was a great place for us if you didn’t want a massive lunch.the place was reasonably priced along with the drinks,we just wanted to share and it was no problem.the sandwich was first class with great service from the lady waiting on.but above all the establishment was spotlessly clean throughout.

What is delightful experience! Louda and her son were the perfect hosts! I loved the ambiance of this delightful little hotel! The balcony of our room, which overlooked the piazza was a bonus.
I had a little bit of trouble finding the hotel, since we were walking from the train station, but it was worth the extra time!
It had been my dream to see Lago Maggiore for many decades, and my visit remains prominent in my memories. My hug from Lauda at departure will stay in my heart forever!

Good coffee enjoyed whilst sussing-out the area

On holiday in Stresa on Lake Maggiore. This hotel café was one of the many restaurants, bars and cafés bordering the Piazza Luigi Cadorna in central Stresa. Bars and cafés are popular in a country where coffee is deeply ingrained in social habits: during morning routines, after meals, and quick breaks during work etc.. Coffee is culturally essential and if drinking coffee isn’t an addiction here, then it is very close!
We visited this piazza to suss-out which restaurants we were looking to visit during the next few days, and there were several candidates. We looked at menus and table locations for the restaurants as we sat on decking across the walkway from the front of the café itself. This whole deck area is partitioned and used by many of the restaurants, cafés and bars that surround it. Sitting on this cafés part of the deck gave us the views we needed, and also avoided the continual interruption by employees of the other eateries; all hoping to attract you to their tables!
Our Americano coffee with hot milk was enjoyed, it was good and strong, and inexpensive. Service was pleasant and mostly prompt apart from the wait for our bill.
