Relaxed, Beautiful Anniversary Trip
We had a great time! The Jamaican people were the highlight of the trip! The food was amazing, we had a great time snorkeling, and as everyone says, the catamaran ride is a must. Our room was always clean and the whole vibe was very relaxed. We did the trading places where we got to go to Couples Swept Away, loved that day too! I would advise maybe going to the orientation though because there were a few things I didn’t know (but didn’t ask anyone) until the end of our trip that I wished I had but we skipped the orientation, whoops! We read some online complaints before our trip about bay traffic but we saw no traffic other than the water sports boats for our resort…..we read some other complaints about it being run down that almost had me choosing a different spot…in our opinion, there was nothing run down here. Is it the newest/modern place, no, but it was all functional, all clean, and all beautiful chill island vibes. No complaints here, we will for sure visit Jamaica again!

This really is a great place, this was our second year in a row coming, friendly people amazing beach and water. Food was good. Weather was perfect, rooms were clean and comfortable. There is no negatives in my opinion.

Having recently returned from a stay, I can confidently say this resort is a absolute gem along Jamaica’s world-famous Seven Mile Beach. While no vacation is without its minor bumps, our overall experience was nothing short of magical, earning a stellar 9.3 out of 10.
The Journey and Arrival
To give an honest review, it is worth noting the initial journey. The drive from Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay to Negril takes roughly 1.5 hours along roads that can be quite bumpy. Additionally, our check-in process felt unnecessarily slow after a long day of travel. However, the moment you step foot onto the property, inhale the sweet ocean breeze, and get handed a cold drink, those minor travel fatigues melt away instantly.
A Cozy, Romantic Atmosphere & Divine Accommodations
One of the standout features of Couples Negril is its scale. Unlike massive, sprawling mega-resorts where you feel like just another room number, Couples Negril is comfortably small, giving it a cozy, boutique feel. It creates an atmosphere that is naturally peaceful and inherently romantic—the ultimate environment for couples looking to connect or reconnect.
Our room was everything we could have hoped for:
* Spacious and Pristine: The layout provided plenty of room to relax, meticulously maintained and kept spotless by the housekeeping staff every single day.
* Breathtaking Balcony Views: The balcony quickly became our favorite spot for morning coffee and late-afternoon winding down, offering stunning views of the lush grounds and azure Caribbean waters.

The beach at Couples Negril is absolute perfection. It is quiet, immaculate, and relaxed, avoiding the chaotic vendor traffic found in other areas. A thoughtful touch that makes a huge difference: every single beach chair comes with its own foam water float. Spending an afternoon drifting effortlessly on the calm ocean is pure bliss.

They treat you like family, ensure safety seamlessly, and make sure every single drop into the water is pure fun.

* The Catamaran Cruise: Do not skip the sunset catamaran sailing trip. It is high energy, incredibly fun, and offers spectacular views of the coastline.

Best resort around
This was our eighth trip in nine years. (Covid prevented 2020). We keep returning because you can’t beat perfection. The beach is perfect. No rocks or seaweed. The food is delicious! The staff are friendly and helpful.

I recently stayed at Couples Negril and had an amazing experience. The resort offered exactly the balance I was hoping for: relaxing and easygoing, with enough activities and evening entertainment to keep things interesting without ever feeling like a nonstop party.
The resort’s private white-sand beach was the highlight of our stay. The turquoise water was calm enough for floating, the beach never felt crowded, and we had no trouble finding chairs. The lush tropical foliage and palm trees created a beautiful natural setting and provided welcome shade. The resort also has a separate, secluded au naturel beach area for guests who wish to use it.
The main pool was spotless, comfortable and never overcrowded. It overlooks the beach and has a swim-up bar, making it a fun place to socialize without creating an overwhelming party atmosphere. There is also a smaller, quieter Treehouse pool, four open-air Jacuzzis and an on-site spa. We especially appreciated that the pools remained open late, allowing us to enjoy them well into the evening.
We stayed in a ground-floor Deluxe Beachfront room, which made it incredibly convenient to reach the beach, restaurants and pool. Our room was quiet, modern and comfortable, with cozy bedding, bathrobes, blackout curtains and a tiled rainfall shower. The air-conditioning worked exceptionally well and kept the room wonderfully cool throughout our stay.
Our private patio had two comfortable cushioned chairs with a table between them, creating a pleasant place to sit outside and enjoy the tropical surroundings. Housekeeping did an excellent job, our personalized minibar was consistently restocked, and the seemingly endless supply of fresh towels made our beach and pool days especially easy.
We experienced a leak during heavy rain on our first day, but the staff responded immediately, fixed the problem and it never happened again. I appreciated how quickly and professionally the situation was handled.
The service throughout our visit was warm and welcoming. A special thank-you to the front desk team, as well as **Sean, Moveta, Orelle and Donna**, who helped make our stay especially memorable. Their kindness and hospitality truly stood out and reflected the welcoming spirit we experienced throughout the resort.
Check-in and checkout were quick, and transportation pickups were organized. Couples Negril does not have timeshares, so there were no timeshare presentations or sales pitches interrupting our vacation. I also appreciated that there was no obvious VIP or club-level divide—the everyday experience already felt premium and inclusive.
Food and drinks always seemed to be available, and room service was both fast and delicious. We especially enjoyed the breakfast buffet and Lychee, the Asian restaurant. My only small consideration is that the dining selection is more curated than extensive. Guests who want a very large restaurant lineup may prefer a bigger resort, and some restaurants rotate their operating nights.
The resort provided reusable souvenir water bottles, and purified water and ice were always conveniently available near our room and throughout the restaurants and bars. This was a thoughtful and practical touch that made staying hydrated easy.
There was also an impressive selection of included activities available, including snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, paddleboarding, tubing, a catamaran cruise and a glass-bottom boat tour. Guests could also enjoy sailing, water skiing, tennis, fitness classes, golf and nightly entertainment. We did not personally participate in every activity, but it was nice knowing there were plenty of options whenever the mood struck.
Despite visiting during late July and early August, we encountered no mosquitoes, flies or other noticeable bugs anywhere at the resort.
The property feels slightly dated in a few exterior areas, and we noticed some loose boards that could use attention. However, the resort was exceptionally clean, surrounded by lush foliage and beautifully maintained grounds, and very easy to navigate. There are no elevators, so travelers with mobility concerns should request a ground-floor room.
