Closed for 2 years after the May 2025 holiday

My family stayed at the hotel dozens of times for a long period of more than 30 years. They say they will be closed and renovated for two years after the May holiday in 2025. This time I stayed on March 15, 2025, but it started snowing. It was the first time I saw snow fall in this hotel. Next time I come, I want to come and stay with my grandchildren and my dog and eat at La Foret. I look forward to the new Hakone Highland Hotel.

Disappointed

Very disappointed . Good location for the Venetian Glass Museum and the Hakone Trails.
Staff indifferent. None of the reception staff could speak English or made any effort to help with a minor issue we had. The ac in the room was antiquated and super noisy at night. Water in the shower takes 15 minutes to drain, so you are standing continuously in dirty water, and you need to wait 20 mins before next can then wash.
They come across as being super environmentally friendly and ask you to accept a complimentary beverage in exchange for the room being cleaned. Yet they make it impossible to have that beveragewith thee timings andsmalll print.
All the little things could be overlooked if staff were pleasant, but they were the total opposite of what you are used to with Japanese hospitality.

Spa like atmosphere

Spa-like atmosphere! Very quiet and secluded area. After a 3.5-hour hike at a nearby Mount Kintoki Loop, we were looking forward to enjoy the outdoor onsen at this hotel. Not crowded so it’s like having your own private onsen. The room is very comfortable and clean. One downsize.. no expresso machine in the room. So kind of hard to start the morning with instant coffee.

The hotel room was real nice and we were able to see deer from the window! Recommend this hotel!

The deer were just at the back of the garden and you were able to see them by chance.
On rare occasions, they come to the garden to eat nuts and other food.
