Just one improvement
This is always a great hotel. I'm impressed by how lively the young staff are. After the renovation, the hotel's image has improved greatly. There was just one thing that bothered me this time. After dinner, the staff came to lay out the futons, but they started laying them out in front of us in a rather messy manner. Japanese people would never lay them out in a way that would cause dust to rise in front of us. My wife and I exchanged glances for a moment. We even exchanged glances to see if we should open the window. I hope they will improve this.

Nice onsen and good food
We had a very good experience in this hotel. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Lobby and communal area is large. The onsen places are spacious & relaxing. Taking a half board package is a MUST because the buffet dinner is unexpectedly rich of choices comparable to 6 star hotels.

Very Nice Outdoor Onsen
We love the onsen especially the one on the 1st floor. The onsen is available on the 1st and 3rd floors which will be alternate for male and female. So by staying one night, you can still experience both onsens. The onsen is attached to the building even the outdoor one. This is very convenient for elder. The buffet for dinner was awesome. Wide variety of food including fresh sashimi, crab, yakiniku. The coldstone icecream is very good.
The hotel provides free shuttle service from Hanamaki on Shin-Hanamaki station. However, the shuttle is quite small. No space for big luggage.
We got an excellent rooms which has 2 bedrooms. The 2nd bedroom is a bit too small with no windows. The main bedroom has living area with a nice view of the river and mountain. WIFI is available in this type of room.

Reasonable but old building
Large lobby, rooms were large but bathroom was small. Amenities were ok, not great. Also the room had an old woody smell which wasn't pleasant at all. Staff very hospitable. Overall did not find accomodations to be up to par with other hotels we've stayed at.
