Beautiful
This was the first experience I had of Japan outside of a hotel in Tokyo. What a beautiful introduction.
Kengo is so helpful and kind, he made myself and my friend feel right at home. We loved our stay. The Guest House is clean, interesting and very beautiful. The surroundings are perfect and we took Kengo's advice and went a hike up the nearby mountain trail which was truly a wonderful sight to see.
I can't recommend this place enough. Thank you to Kengo for the amazing service and unforgettable stay.

Very cool little guest house
I wish I got to stay longer at 88 House. It's a small place, with only a few rooms, and it felt like staying at a friend's house. The owner Kengo lives next door, and was very friendly and helpful (he even gave me a free room upgrade since there was nobody using the bigger room!). Showers and bathrooms were nice, and the room itself was very comfortable and peaceful. I didn't look for food in the neighborhood, but my guess is that there's not much around, so you should probably get dinner in the city center.
The location is kind of out-of-the-way, but the bus runs frequently, so it's easy to get to Hiroshima Station in about 30 minutes. One slight clarification to the directions: if you're at the south exit of Hiroshima station, cross all the way to the other side of the street (you'll need to go through the underpass) until you're in front of the department store. The bus stop only mentions bus #20, but the bus #29 that you need also stops there. And if you're looking at Google Maps, don't be alarmed that it starts heading west instead of north-east: it will turn around, stop at the north side of the station, then continue in the right direction.
Anyway, stay at 88House! It's a lovely place, and a nice break from the city.

Cozy and personal
Only a 20 minute busride from Hiroshima Station you will have a wonderfull accommodation. We stayed there for 2 nights. The owner gave us a detailed and very helpful map on how to get there once we booked our stay. In the evening we had a great chat with the owner, he really made an effort to make us feel welcome! We had a great night of sleep on comfortable futons, everything was clean. The shared bathroom and kitchen have all you need and are super neat.

Lovely traditional guesthouse
88house is a lovely traditional guesthouse set a bit out of town. The host is welcoming, and the set up is great with a nice common room, good bathrooms and a well equipped kitchen (including honesty-bar beer). We found the futons very comfortable. It is an easy 30 minute bus ride from the station. Recommended for a good value stay.

You must stay!
Stayed two nights at Kengo's place and it was our favourite place in Japan. We wish we'd stayed longer. Though it may be a little out of town - we needed some peace and quiet after spending time in Tokyo and Kyoto and we definitely slept very well here. Really quaint and Japanese, 88 House has everything you need to feel at home.
