Worth the Trip

Stayed after the first day of the Shimanami Kaido. It was worth biking a little farther to stay here. The Sawaki staff are very nice and helpful. They drove us to the Onsen (spa) which was nice to rest our tired legs. Dinner was extravagant. Breakfast was very tasty and not a problem on the road. 10/10 would stay again!

Wonderful experience

Wonderful place to stay! We stayed two nights in the Fuji room with new on suite bathroom and toilet. It was very spacious Japanese style room. The two nights gave us time if the weather was bad to enjoy the cycling. The town is so cute and walkable. Lawson across the street large local temple park up the hill great for kids of all ages, with slides and climbing stuff and amazing cherry blossoms. Also visited the local brewery, bbq restaurant and winery. We went to the local sea salt factory and cycled around the island on the middle day. We used Sagawa luggage same day transfer for our bags, so easy! Indoor bike storage with anything you would need for bike maintenance. Love the old school vibe of the interior, everything was spotlessly clean. And laundry for free and dryer for 100 yen. The breakfast was Japanese style and delicious. Futons were very comfortable to sleep on. We had one dinner which was delicious and a great value for the quality of the dishes! Can’t wait to come back again so relaxing!

Deeply Japanese experience

This is very Japanese. Great fun sleeping on tatami and futons (very comfortable), shared bathrooms (onsen) although some of the group had an ensuite. Great meals including dinner and breakfast - but you have to like seafood (when in Rome...). Delightful hosts. Remember to wear your yutarka to dinner!

Totally Recommend!

This is brilliant accomodation!
1. Just off Shimanami Kaido cycle way - easy ride to or they will pick you and your bikes up by shuttle van
2. Huge room (actually a suite) in traditional Japanese style
3. Extremely helpful staff
4. Amazing breakfast - also traditional Japanese, about 14 bowls per person
5. Lawson convenience store over the road

Superb hospitality, excellent food

Staying at the Sawaki Ryokan is a wonderful experience. Upon arrival the host offered us to bring us to the local onsen. A great experience, especially after the bikeride from Imabari. We had dinner at the Ryokan. Another unique experience. We were served many different tasteful seafood dishes. (They offer three different levels of dining options. We ordered the highest level which we did not regret. Absolutely value for money). The service was excellent: friendly and joyful. The large room in traditional style was comfortable. A tasty breakfast, consisting of many different dishes, was served in the large dining room. Another nice experience. The hospitality at this ryokan is of the highest level. Especially the amazing food and wonderful service is worth the visit.

Thank you for your stay at Sawaki.
We are so glad , so many pleasant comments!
The onsen is very nice. For foreign tourists, it's not familiar.
We want them to try it. Thank you for your comments!
Sincerely.
