Japan spirit

Really good hotel in nice area. The hotel building is old, but it still have good rooms. We lived on japanice-style room, and it was nice and cofortable. Sleeping on tatami was nice. Food in the hotel was also good, and stuff was nice to explain us what and how to eat, as it is traditional japanice meal. Good chance for foreiner to learn traditional food. Please note, that diner is before 20:00 and you have to plan your tours and other.
Special ecetiment with public bath. Perfect experience.

Futon and Tatami for beginners

The location facing the river is pleasant, and must be spectacularly beautiful in June when the irises are in bloom. The hotel seems large and characterless and looked a little in need of repair when I stayed there in October 2012. I started out in a western-style room that was rather gloomy with creaking beds. Then I transferred to a traditional Japanese room that was terrific. Bright, airy and serenely uncluttered (apart from some incongruously tacky looking massage equipment and an electric vat for boiling water that should have been kept out of sight in the generous closet space). The closet contained a lot of futon matresses so I could stack them on the tatami floor until the desired level of comfort was reached. Being an English speaker was not a problem as two charming members of staff spoke excellent English. My single communication problem was with the tea-making arrangements as the water boiler just had instructions in Japanese, and the only way I could get water out of it was by bailing with a tea bowl. The green tea provided was delicious. The public bath on the top floor was a little worse for wear, but totally clean and a pleasure to use. The floor-to-ceiling windows allow you to absorb the view while soaking in the tub, although I wondered if anyone on the other side of the river had a telescope.

最低最悪の接客です。

中学の恩師に送る謝恩会のため、中学生と保護者の団体で謝恩会&宿泊ができるホテルを探していました。ホームページに宴会メニュー4000円＋土日宿泊5500円＋朝食500円の税別1万が載っていた潮来ホテルに確認すると「中学生は本来大人と同じ税込11000円ですが、アメニティを無くして良いのなら7700円にしますよ」との事。他、近隣施設と悩んでましたがその言葉でこちらを予約しました。その後、FAXでも謝恩会であることや部屋割り等を伝えた上、打ち合わせの電話すると途中で「他のお客さんがきたんでもう良いですかね。案内しないといけないんです」と電話を切られました。あの時に異常な対応に気づいてキャンセルさえしていれば‥と悔やんでなりません。当日、謝恩会のため用意されていた宴会場に行くと、並んでいたのはまさかのお弁当。すぐフロントに確認に行くと、奥からゼミ合宿プランのチラシを持ってきて「中学生も多いことだし、この合宿プランにしておきましたよ。謝恩会といえば合宿でしょう。バスケットのチームなんだから合宿のメニュー（お弁当）で良いじゃないですか。あとは部屋で大人は飲めばいいでしょ。謝恩会と言われても、宴会だなんて思いませんでしたよ」と解釈しがたい言い訳。私達がすでに支払った金額とは全く違う、そのチラシでは会議室等も利用して一泊2食税込8800円の金額。話も金額も全く違うことを伝えると「子供にはアメニティ引いてあげたでしょ。大人には浴衣とか付けてあげましたよね、入ってたでしょタンスに！このチラシには載ってないけどアメニティつけたら11000円になるんですよ！今更料理の用意なんてできないんだから、仕方ないでしよ！」と威嚇にも取れる大声で開き直り。責任者はいないので自分が2番目だから絶対だと言い切り、最後まで謝罪も返金もありませんでした。泣く泣く冷たいお弁当（ほか弁の白身魚フライ二匹がメインです）で謝恩会を行いました。潮来ホテルの名前さえ、思い出すのも聞くのも嫌です。古くて大きな旅館はそこまでしないとお客が取れないのですか？地元で利用しただけに残念でなりません。

ホテルという名の昭和時代の旅館

11月24日、勅祭社巡りツアーで宿泊しました。
目の前が菖蒲祭りの会場のようです。
1階ロビーは結構広く、今の時代利用率低そうなショップが幾つかあり、無駄に広い印象です。
本館棟、中央棟、翔陽棟の3棟の客室棟があります。大浴場は本館棟の4階にありますが、他の棟からは繋がっておらず1階のロビーに降りてきて本館棟のエレベータで行くしかありませんので動線が非常に悪い計画です。
中央棟の3階の和室に泊まりましたが、この部屋も酷い古さです。
窓側に椅子、テーブルがセットされてますが、絨毯はしみだらけ、椅子は汚れシミで気持ち悪いくらいです。
掛け布団のカバーも黒っぽく汚れてるんではないかと思うカバーでした。
コンセントは2口しかありません。１つはテレビに繋がっていて、もう一つは電気ポットにつながってますから、携帯充電など使うコンセントがありません。
剃刀も洗面に用意されてません。大浴場に行かないと手に入りません。
ランドリー袋もなく、大浴場に持っていくタオルなどの入れる袋が自分で用意するような宿です。
政府登録旅館のようですが、これで？と思うような旅館でした。

フロントの方の対応が悪いこと部屋が汚くてクモの巣が張っていた事洗面所に髪の毛が落ちていたなど　本当にガッカリ　2度と行きません
