Savor the French kaiseki of Izu!
This is a restaurant inn in Nishiizu.
The eight-room open-air bath features a large view of Mt. Fuji, and is awarded one Michelin-starred. In fact, the view of the large Mt. Fuji from the open-air bath in my room was quite moving.
Both dinner and breakfast were served in a private room in the Dining Wing. Especially for dinner, we had French Kaiseki, a very delicious Japanese-French fusion dish using Izu ingredients.
And the actual meals we received were as follows:
◯ Parsnip mousse
Sea urchin, caviar, consomme jure
Marinated Chinese spiny lobster, soy sauce & yuzu ecumen
◯Sashimi: Tuna, swordfish, long-tailed dai
◯Sagami Bay Flatfish and Abalone Vapour
White wine sauce, with local vegetables
◯ Shizuoka "Shiraito beef" sirloin steak
with black garlic sauce, roasted local vegetables
◯ Sea bream cooked rice, bonito soup
◯ Toi Yamada Farm "Beni Hoppe" Soup Tailored
Yogurt mousse, condensed milk Espouma.

The first sea urchin, caviar and consommé mousse was truly a fusion of Japanese and French, and was delicious. Expectations have risen.
The Izu seafood sashimi had a particularly pleasant aroma of roasted sword fish, and was delicious with salt. This was almost Japanese food.
Flatfish and abalone with white wine sauce, the flavor of flatfish and abalone was firm. The cream sauce was also very good.
The white-thread beef sirloin was tender, light in fat and elegant in taste. Black garlic sauce like balsamic sauce went well.
The sea bream cooked rice was THE Japanese food, but it was very good.
Drinks were white wine from Izu.
Izu Shinano Riesling 2023 (dry) @ 9,000 yen
It was fresh and dry, with a hint of fruity flavor. It went well with seafood dishes.
Each time, the ingredients of Izu are delicious and inspiring. The French seasoning was also good and delicious.
Not only was the room with the view of Mt. Fuji from the open-air bath, but the food was also inspiring.

A hotel with a view of Mt.
It was a good hotel, , , Mt. Fuji looks good and the food was delicious! The private room meal was good, especially the breakfast

We had a really lovely stay here. We felt totally immersed in the atmosphere of a traditional Japanese Ryokan. The food was both delicious and always beautifully presented. We are really glad that we made this stop as part of our travels around Japan. Mount Fuji was mostly covered in isolated low level cloud, but we did get a gorgeous view once or twice.
Points to note are that there are no other facilities other than your room and dining room which is accessed at set, pre agreed times. Early check in is not an option and there didn’t seem to be any English speaking staff when we needed help. There was nothing within walking distance but the hotel were able to arrange a cab so we could visit the gold mine for a few hours and lunch after arriving too early.
