spectacular resort

Our group of 5 drove from Otaru and stayed at the Muwa Niseko last week in mid-July 2026.
Wow! What a beautiful resort it is! Excellent service, top-notch and superb quality, awesome views. We had a great time in Muwa Niseko.
The resort entrance and foyer was quite interesting with a sensor automated sealed door and created a sense of surprise for the arrival guests. We were greeted and welcomed by Mr.Dylan & Alvin & Zi Min-Chua, very friendly, pleasant, a lot of warmth and we felt right at home and started joking with everyone, very fun conversation and we started to get to know a little bit more about each other.
Checking-in was fast and swift, no fuss, very good. Excellent.
Dylan introduced to us the resort private onsen and we quickly booked the private infinity onsen, enjoyed it tremendously. spectacular view framing the majestic Mount Yotei. Excellent service by the onsen reception Miss Dwi Nuraini attending to all our needs. Really had a great time and enjoyed ourselves.
Our suite and rooms are immaculate, it has been well prepared for us, the housekeeping is perfectly clean and spot-on, amenities are full and complete, very relaxing and comfortable stay in our rooms which comes with a private onsen as well..
Don’t miss breakfast at Muwa Niseko, it is a must! Top-rated quality and service, and abundance of selections and options. I think I had the best of all matcha latte in Hokkaido is at MUWA Niseko. Everything was perfectly prepared and served. We had a wonderful time and the best hotel breakfast in our Hokkaido trip. we were served by miss Nanako and another lady which i didn’t manage to catch the name, we were very impressed by the service, so delightful, so good.
Ms.Marina also introduced and recommended to us Muwa pastry with Hokkaido milk and yogurt, we enjoyed it tremendously, so tasty, so fresh, so good.
Also shout out to Ms. Amelia for taking the time to show us the resort’s exclusive and very exquisite pent-house unit, our eye-gate are lavished with stunning views and deco. Really breathtaking.
Niseko is one of our many pit-stops but our short stay in Muwa Niseko has been the most wonderful and 99.9% near perfect. Thank you very much to all the staff that has attended to us that made our stay in Muwa Niseko so memorable and delightful.

Second time not a charm

This is our second time to MUWA, our first was in Mar 2025, for our annual spring skiing trip. I would say overall experience this time was a disappointment, perhaps returning to the same resort was a mistake as you would expect the same as last year. Checking in was smooth but we did not feel the warm welcome like last year, it was more like checking in at a normal 3 star hotel in Japan.
HITO - Breakfast has improved by adding egg station that you can order at your table, however, overall food quality was so-so. I also found food stains on a plate that I took next to the pastries, and when I gave it to the manager at the bar, he did not even apologise but just took it away from me. Saw some Asians taking a few mountains of plates of pastries to the table and asked the waitress to pack them to take away, which was ridiculous that they let people do that.
Lunch and dinner menus were nice but with limited choices. Service was ok but less professional as last year and the staff they hired now are not proficient in English. The last order thing was also a joke. One night we walked in at 7:30pm (which is still a normal dinner time), the server came to us at 8pm telling us that its last order and urged us to order dessert. However, I could see that they are not consistent with this as one time when there were more people at the restaurant, they would not have this 8pm last order thing. This makes customers feel extremely unwelcome and could see that the staff only wanted to get off work on time.
Room - Our room was a King Suite Annupuri, very spacious and would fit 3 adults max. However, we had this very loud squeaky noise from the heat system starting from 6am which was annoying. After changing to another room it was still happening. Thanks to Ran, who actually looked into it immediately after having 2 sleepless nights, and it’s finally fixed. Also thanks to Nali who helped me move all the luggage to another room on Day 2 while my husband and son are snowboarding. Nali even checked with me if everything was ok whenever we bumped into each other in the resort. I would say Ran and Nali are the ONLY staff who still work by the MUWA spirits that we experienced last year.
Housekeeping - Worst bed making I’ve ever seen in my life so far. The sheets are wrinkled, and not tugged in properly (please see the photos I’ve uploaded). One day I even found a dirty cleaning towel on my kitchen counter!! Never experienced in my life. Another day they forgot to empty the garbage.
Hotel exterior - Still the most beautifully built resort around the area. However, starting to see wear and tear especially inside the lifts.
Overall impression and experience was a 5 out of 10. I could see that they have hired new staff for the restaurants but without enough training, perhaps new foreign staff for housekeeping which seems to be a huge mistake, and lastly guests quality seems to have deteriorated A LOT. If you expect to receive 5 star service and with same quality guests around you, then I would NOT recommend at all.

Great room layout, good ski out location, run to ski in a little challenging.
Much more a condo development than a true hotel though. Difficult to get ski edge service in the on property ski shop, although fine for wax.
Parking a little expensive.
Breakfast was a weak point,.lack of variety and quality overall at the price point.
In house restaurants great quality but pricey and not everyday eating. Short walk though to other options in Hirafu.
Only one towel per person per day a little stingy, Onsen not truly an Onsen (no mineral water), so fundamentally more of a large hot bath.
Daylight to room better than expected with Premium Suite on first floor, was concerned about proximity to ski and boot room but had no issues.
