We loved our stay here
We have loved staying at the Hyatt Regency Kyoto and ended up eating most of our meals in the Cafe because the food was so good and the wait staff personable. The hotel is luxe and stylish, the beds comfortable, the rooms have ever amenity and it was very quiet. Plus it is right across the street from the Kyoto National Museum and a short walk to many temples, including the big Kiyomizu-dera. T
he hotel had sent us emails about how their might be noise during construction of a neighbor, but I don't know how any noise could get in as the hotel property is surrounded by a 2-story wall with a hill full of plants. We didn't hear any noise whatsoever. The pastry cafe is definitely worth a visit, too!
There was a free maiko dance performance and a small charge for a morning yoga class--gentle but effective. I loved the big soaking tub in my room!

Nice east meets west hotel
Central location , clean rooms and attentive staff. Breakfast was western enough and staff was very friendly and accommodating.

A Workhorse Hotel While it Lasts
Have done two separate stays, one if low season and one in koyo when it was slammed.
The first thing to know is that this hotel is one of the only reliable Hyatt point redemptions in Kyoto (PH is hard to get nights), so it gets a lot of redemption traffic.
The good: I really like the location, its not prime, but its still very good. Being able to walk next door to Sanjusangendo is very charming. I was able to walk here to all of eastern Kyoto without much effort (I like to walk in Japan), and its within walk or easy cab of many great restaurants.
The rooms are very nice and decently sized, though nothing fancy. The views are nothing to speak of.
The breakfast is nice, and the staff is very helpful with reservations.
The bar is awesome! In the basement, the vibe and the drinks are top notch. We did a Kyoto bachelor party, and the bar was a great was to start the night before heading to dinner.
Elite benefits: I'm a Hyatt Globalist, always gotten breakfast and a daily drink for free at the bar. Got an upgrade to a view room, but the property is notoriously stingy on suites. They have all suites categorized as premium so members can't use SUA, which I find.....unappealing.
WARNING: I have heard this place is getting torn down in spring of 2027. Check it out while you can I guess.

An amazing hotel to stay in Kyoto. Very central to everything we wanted to see. The Italian restaurant onsite is absolutely fabulous!!!
