It was a time of healing.

I asked because I wanted to relax. I was soothed by the sound of the waves and soothed by the bath.
The staff did not provide excessive service, but were attentive in a subtle manner, and I was able to enjoy my stay at the hotel comfortably.
The breakfast was surprisingly delicious. My husband said he didn't want to eat chicken rice, so I guess I'll just have to put up with it. That's what I thought, but it was on the breakfast buffet, and the chicken stock was so light that I was able to enjoy it even when I was full (lol).The sea was right in front of me, so I sat on a bench after taking a bath and looked out at the sea. I was able to have a luxurious time.

Luxury at a high price

This hotel is luxury in a simple understated way. The decor is white and modern, the rooms are spacious and very clean but not luxurious in an ostentatious way. We had only breakfast included not dinner in our package. Breakfast alternated between Western and Japanese cuisine and was delicious. Now the bad news. Prices are a little crazy. Want dinner? There is only a set menu and it's ¥8000 ($70) per head. They will provide ingredients for a BBQ out on the lawn at ¥8000 ($70) per head. If you would prefer to eat elsewhere then the nearest restaurant is a 15-20 minute drive away and there is absolutely nothing closer. Not a bar or a restaurant.
So - if you're looking for a relaxed high quality hotel and don't mind bringing your Gold card (our room would have been around $800 per night) then I can recommend it. There's very little to do (the snorkeling / walking is very limited but they do spa / yoga packages). It's a great place to get away from it all. At a price.

Paradis on earth

We loved the Scene. This is a beautifull boutique hotel with only 21 room all of them with a great view on the sea and islands. The design from a Japanese architect is top level. They have a great chief as well with japenese and italian menus. The hotel beach is lovely with only this hotel, turtles, a lot of fishs and corals and even a shark. The snorkling tours organized by the hotel are very good, we discovered lovely places with amasing corrals and a lot of fishs.
Last but not least people working at the Scene are very friendly, helpfull and professional.

Diving trip

This is a small quaint very personal hotel. It is very isolated which is good or bad depending.... diving is directly from the hotel. Snorkeling saw sea turtles in front of the hotel. The service was perfect. The food was excellent though limited for a stay of more than 4 or 5 days. Would advise renting a car and taking an excursion or two during your stay.

これぞまさしくオンリーワンホテル

奄美大島広しといえど瀬戸内町でこのような立派なホテルはなくやはりオンリーワンと言えるでしょう。20数部屋くらいしかないのでラグジュアリーホテルと思いきや従業員の方々はみなフレンドリーでとても気持ちよく過ごせました。目の前はビーチと広く拡がる海だけでそれ以外何も視界に入ってきません。朝食・別棟の温泉も最高、私たちは夜は古仁屋まで出ましたが車で20分ほどです。加計呂麻島観光の基点として有効です。
