A nice place to visit but...
The staff at the hotel was very, very helpful and nice. The rooms were small as in many Japanese hotels. The bathroom was extraordinary small as well. The hotel and rooms felt old even though it was kept well and clean. The location of the hotel is nice in that it's within driving distance to Furano and Asahikawa. It's centrally located to explore those area and much cheaper than hotels in Furano.

Has breakfast been prepared for a while?
For some reason, I've started staying here whenever there's a vacancy when I come to Takikawa.
This time I was in the annex on the second floor.
The room was the same as always, and my activities were the same as always, leaving late at night and early in the morning and just sleeping, so it was a good, cheap place to stay.
There was a simple breakfast prepared, either for the first time or I didn't notice it even though it had been there before.

Best Hotel in a one horse town
The Suehero Hotel is located in the depressing Japanese town of Takikawa in Hokkaido. This place has a main street where many of its shops are closed and this even includes the multi-floor department store in front of the station and many of the restaurants and cafes in the city centre. In contrast though are the suburbs where there are many new houses and shopping developments.
The Hotel in many aspects reflects the town itself, good in parts but generally dingy. The external view is OK and is the largest structure around. It is about 5 minutes Taxi ride from the Railway station. The reception area is relatively large and featureless with some seating and drinks machines. The reception staff are always very polite, friendly and helpful.
A major minus in my view is that there is no bar in the place. Instead there is a beer machine tucked away on the 6th floor. This dispenses overpriced cans of local lagers. There is a fridge in the room but this is empty. The rooms are rather small, again dingy, with a miniscule bathroom housing a Japanese style bath. The TV had no foreign language programs but the WiFi was acceptable. The top floor (9th) was a restaurant having a panoramic view of the town but it looked as though it was some time since it had been used.
The saving grace of this hotel was its first floor restaurant. This offered a decent range of basic dishes of very good quality. The buffet breakfasts were good too although it was my first experience of cold fried eggs. The Coffee and the Japanese dishes were OK

It's better not to stay in an annex in this hotel.
It's better not to stay in an annex in this hotel. The room in this annex is dim, and the equipment is old. A restaurant is little around this hotel, so before visiting a hotel, you prefer the one which has finished having a meal.

道道２２７号から中央通を曲がってアクセス。駐車場は道路を挟んだ向いに確保。別館は値段相応。雰囲気的には別館というより屋根裏部屋。灰皿完備。室内暗め。寝るだけと割り切れば宜なるかな。翌朝早朝チェックアウトなら気にしない方がよいでしょう。末広がりに広がるかは不明。
