Not Really Convincing This Time...
Our classic twin room with water view was clean and did not look worn but it was a bit dull. And every morning it needed a lot of hot water running to get rid of some unpleasant smell in the bathroom. This just did not match the otherwise luxurious atmosphere of the 5* hotel...
Clearly speaking - for the next trip to Tokyo it will have to be either a higher room category or a different location .

We are grateful for the opportunity to welcome you back after nine years and appreciate your candid feedback. It's wonderful to hear that you still enjoyed the bay view, though we understand your disappointment with the changes in the neighborhood. We’re sorry to learn about the issues you experienced with the room and the bathroom. Your comments are invaluable to us, and we will address these concerns to enhance our guests' experience. We hope to have the chance to provide you with a more satisfying stay in the future.

Last days in Tokyo !
The location was also fantastic. We loved being close to the train station, many shops, and beautiful waterfront views, including seeing the Statue of Liberty. It made exploring Tokyo very convenient while still feeling peaceful and relaxing. Thank you again to the entire staff for such a memorable stay.

The renovated club floor and club lounge were lovely
We also used the Club Lounge, but the menu was full of afternoon tea, cocktails and even breakfast, so you could enjoy it just inside the hotel. I especially enjoyed spending time with the night view.
There were a lot of guests from overseas, so there was a global atmosphere overall. The hotel is recommended for anniversaries and when you want to enjoy a hotel stay for a little luxury.

Excellent room and peaceful location, but service and facilities fall short of five-star
My arrival was very welcoming. It was exceptionally hot outside, and a member of staff immediately offered me a bottle of water when they noticed how warm I was. The lobby creates a good first impression, while check-in was quick and straightforward. I arrived early after a very long flight, so I was particularly grateful that my room was already available.
The room was undoubtedly the highlight of the stay. It was spacious, spotlessly clean, modern and bright, with a huge and extremely comfortable bed. It was also very quiet, and the air conditioning worked brilliantly despite the August heat. The large bathroom was excellent, with a separate bath and plenty of amenities. There was a small tea service, although rather little milk was provided.
Housekeeping was consistently efficient. They generally serviced the room between 10am and noon, and I hardly ever saw them - they came and went quickly while maintaining the room to a very high standard.
The hotel’s location may not suit everyone, as it is slightly removed from Tokyo’s principal tourist areas and situated in a quieter business district. However, I loved it. There were relatively few tourists, the surroundings were peaceful, and I found everything I needed nearby. It was also well connected to the subway, making it easy to explore the city.
Unfortunately, the hotel’s restaurants and other facilities were much less impressive. Chef’s Live Kitchen was incredibly disappointing, including a limited selection of hot breakfast items. Zillion was expensive, while the experience at Hudson Lounge was very hit-and-miss. Staff sometimes appeared confused and were often not always confident when dealing with international guests. For a 5 star Intercontinental, I'd expect the standards to be higher.
One notable exception was Riku, a captain, who was excellent - genuinely friendly, capable and welcoming. His approach represented the standard of service I would expect throughout a hotel at this level. If all the staff had been like Riku, it would have been a 5 star review.
The range of leisure facilities also felt limited. Overall, the hotel charges five-star prices, and the room absolutely felt five-star, but the restaurants, facilities and consistency of service did not always reach the same standard.
I would nevertheless stay again because I loved the room, the view and the peaceful location. With better staff training and more consistent food and beverage service, this could be a truly outstanding hotel - as it stands I'd the room is outstanding, but the rest falls a bit short of that.
