Bad Experience in Ueno Hotel

I recently stayed at Sutton Place Hotel from December 3rd to December 9th and wanted to share my thoughts.
Firstly, while I appreciated the eco-friendly approach, the price of over 1,000 HKD per night set my expectations high. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of my room fell short—there was mold on the bathroom walls and shower curtain, and dust on the wooden floor.
Security was another concern. The front desk is on the third floor, making it easy for anyone to access guest floors via the elevator, which doesn't feel very secure.
I think it would be beneficial to offer guests the option to choose daily room cleaning. This would strike a better balance between sustainability and comfort. Additionally, I found the staff could be more proactive in engaging with guests. The assistance I received on December 6th was great, and it would be nice to see that level of attentiveness consistently.
For the price, I believe guests shouldn’t have to tidy up or request basic amenities daily. I hope my experiences can help improve future stays at Sutton Place.

The bathroom had widespread, visible mold, so I’d give the whole experience a 1. That and the bathroom light switch fell out of the wall, leaving exposed wires.
The mold could have been easily taken care of with a simple scrub brush and some cleaner with bleach, so I’d chalk it up to lax housekeeping, poor management or a negligent owner—or perhaps all three.
Personally, I’d find another place to stay unless future review indicate that the property is up to at least a minimum standard for cleanliness and maintenance.

the room is more spacious than the average hotels，just a few blocks away from the
Ueno JR main exit, which helps a lot when you are carrying luggages. the Staffs are very friendly and helpful, they were all amazing! it was definitely a comfortable stay, and we would certainly choose this hotel again.

This is a small quaint hotel. If you're looking for something by American standards then this probably isn't for you. But if you're looking for something simple to rest your head, that's clean, friendly and in an amazing spot then definitely book here.
