A Beautiful View With A Rich History Lesson

I found myself in Ajloun on a rainy afternoon after a long overseas journey and without a hotel reservation. Yamen, at the Ajloun Hotel, came to the rescue fluent in English ( to my relief) and assisted with my burdensome luggage. The room was comfortable with an amazing view of the Ajloun Castle and surrounding hills. Olive trees galore!
What is special about this hotel is the family that owns and runs it. There is rich history in Ajloun and Jordan in general, having people who speak English well and will joyfully take the time to share this knowledge with you, is a true gift for any traveler. I stayed at the hotel over a week and was blessed to have had many conversations with Yamen, the manager, and other family members. True Jordanian hospitality on display! Yamen drove me to town himself several times to visit the bakery, fruit markets and money exchange too. An amazing stay. I learned so much.
Thank you!!

Bad staff and bad hotel

My tour group booked this property and it almost ruined my whole trip.
Had to leave one star if I could leave none I would, very dated and dirty, mattresses and pillows were stained and not a great smell coming from the room either. You can hear everything from the other rooms, No telephone in the room, everything broken.
Unkind person "Yamen" in the reception he is nervous and not welcoming us..
In my room, the television did not work.

Fawlty Towers Jordan style

This place is kind of tragic in a funny way. It seems like it was either built in the glory days that have long since past or in anticipation of glory days that never came.
The dining room is big, looks like it was based on an alpine lodge with lots of pine and a huge panoramic window. But it's empty, with faded posters that are 30 years old. The absence of guests makes it dark, quiet, sad.
It took ages to get the water in the bathroom to work, it was permanently freezing when it came, it emerged only as drips from the shower and when we did get the water running we then couldn't get it to stop. Comedy gold. We didn't shower. Luckily we were only staying one night.
The room was pretty cold and, like the dining room, looked like it hasn't been updated in 30 years. Beautiful pink in the bathroom. Everything from tiles to paint to sink to toilet. Apart from an odd pipe that travelled along the ceiling and stopped above the bath. Not sure what it was. Not sure I want to know.
At breakfast there was a torrent of water flowing from the ceiling into the dining room, with one small jug placed in a vain attempt to capture the deluge. Unfortunately, it was so placed that not a single drip fell into it. I moved it a little to catch some, but it was a pretty pointless excercise.
Breakfast wasn't great, though we did get boiled eggs brought directly to our table. Just as we finished we heard the guy (wearing the same dirty clothes he'd been wearing the prevous day) coughing and hoiking in the kitchen.
It sounds awful, doesn't it? And yet it had its charm. It was so tragic that you had to laugh. And at least it's cheap. There's only one other hotel in the area, and it's expensive.
So don't worry about staying here. It's tragically awful, but if you're prepared for it you'll enjoy it.

Not worth the cheap rent

This place had poor wiring, mouldy shower, sheets didn't cover the bed, breakfast below average. I wouldn't stay again, even though it is cheap. Only good thing was a good view. Everything smelt musty and smokey.
