Home in Amman
The biggest reason is hospitality.
I always found myself at home due to the care shown by the staff
After the day Work, one wants to enjoy, I find the lounge suitable for it.
Rauf, Saif and Ahmad Kh are there to make this more comfortable

Great hotel with good restaurants and heated pool
On arrival, I was quickly checked in by Saif, who was friendly and efficient and spoke English fluently.
My room on the 3rd floor was of average size for a five-star hotel. It came with a comfortable king bed, with one multi-socket by the bed. There was another multi-socket by the desk. No adapters needed. There was also an armchair and a coffee table as well as a safe. Four 0.5 L water bottles were proved daily. I found the AC to be a bit inadequate; despite turning it on fully, the temperature frequently rose up to 23.5 °C. This was in May – I wonder how it copes with summer heat. Overlapping curtains did a good job keeping the room dark after sunrise.
The bathroom came with a separate bathtub and shower cubicle. While the bathtub took a while to fill up, water pressure both in the handheld as well as the overhead shower were fine. Wall-mounted containers of shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, hand soap and body lotion were provided. I would prefer individual minibottles for hygiene reasons and find this the wrong place to save money on. On that note, no shaving or dental kits were proved either, those were only available on request. Felt like penny-pinching from a five-star, really. Bathrobes and slippers were provided.
Breakfast was served in the lobby restaurant daily from 6 to 11 at a price of 17.330 JOD net, but I did not try it this time. I did have lunch at the Lebanese restaurant twice, and service was well-intentioned and friendly and the food excellent. Room service also worked well: the food was quickly prepared and tasty. Prices were very reasonable by Western standards but expensive considering the local price level. There is also a Mexican restaurant as well as an Indian one and a Sushi Bar, but the last two were closed during my visit.
The outdoor pool is heated and kept at 31 degrees. It was a joy to swim in, however the opening hours were really short, from 9 am to 6 pm only.
While everyone I talked to were friendly and well-intentioned, it seemed to me that both at the pool as well as in the restaurant, some staff members had a very basic grasp of English, limited to some phrases only. This made communication a bit problematic at times.
The hotel is located in central Amman. I walked all the way to the Roman Theatre, but it is a longish walk. Yellow taxis abound and charge only 2 JOD for trips within the city centre area. At 2nd Circle, a few minutes' walk away, there are small shops for snacks and drinks as well as restaurants and a currency exchange, Alawneh Exchange, with good rates (bring your passport).
I paid a very reasonable rate of 105 EUR/night. If my travels take me to Amman again, I am more than happy to return to the Intercontintental.
