Positive experience

Staff very kind and helpful for every situation.
I was unwell during my stay and they helped me in everything.
Daniel and Carol always ready and available
Traditional and welcoming location, maybe inquire beforehand if there is ramadan, because the constant prayers annoyed me, but nothing to do with the guys at Janette.
I must say that we were there a few days ago and the heat and humidity on some days did not allow you to go out and with the pool it was a pleasure to stay still and enjoy that Swaili environment. Also available to cook any meal required.
A big thank you to all the staff ❤️❤️ Lalla and Rolando

Charming traditional guesthouse

Janet House was completely charming. It is a mid range hotel so nothing fancy but traditional and we had our own bathroom and balcony. The pool was a complete necessity as we found the weather quite warm. The staff were amazing and always available to help. The manager Carol was fabulous and helped us with bookings and recommendations giving us honest advice once she had followed up requests for us by phone. Festus and the other staff were lovely too. It was very safe and a good location back a bit from the foreshore so nice and quiet. Breakfast was included and included fresh juice fruits platter and cooked breakfast of choice.

Swahili house with lovely swimming pool in Old Town

Really quiet location in the old town with great pool and chillout couches and balconies.
Carol and Festus are really helpful and they have cold drinks and great food
Breakfast was included and rooms have ensuites or share bathrooms .
If you’re fussy about pillows maybe bring your own.
All rooms have fans and mosquito nets

Terrible experience

After arriving at the hotel we were told that the room we had booked was not available, because it was given to a number of volunteers. We were able to go to our originally booked room after 2 nights. We were split into two rooms, in an annex. The single room was dirty, there were ants in the bed and on the floor, when a comment was made about this the reaction was “yes it is ant season”.
After we came to the conclusion that also the light did not work, the shower was cold, the toilet was dirty, there was no toilet paper present and both the bed linen and towels were dirty, complained again. Then suddenly, after deep sighs and rolling eyes, it became possible to change to the original room after 1 night and we could get a discount.
Decided ourselves that we didn't want to stay here longer than 1 night. How this hotel has such good reviews is a mystery to us, because I can't say a positive word about the accommodation and the customer service.

Holiday stay at Jannat house

The hotel is clean, staff friendly ( big shout out to Carol [the manager] & Festus [service crew]. The food was quite tasty, breakfast portion adequate. WiFi is available but signal was weak in various locations. Please improve on that. Overall I’d vouch for a 9.5/10 rating
