Good hotel with dated furnishings close to the night market

Stayed here over a week and had two different rooms. We much preferred the rooms on the ground floor with the small patio area (only four of these, they are more expensive). Beds are comfortable enough, air con is a bit slow but gets there. Basic and dated furniture , no where to hang any towels up in either room. Smart TV. Fridge. Breakfast was limited but totally find for us and a better than average cappucinno. Pool is small and 6 sun beds very much in demand. Laundry available in hotel hut you can get it cheaper yourself if you try. Staff are very young but very helpful. Only gripe (mentioned already) is that if you are high up on the left (as we were) the building work next door kicks off at about 07:15… and if you are in the rooms with the small patio ,the dining room is above you and breakfast starts early (scraping of chairs). So if you wish for a long lie… bring earplugs.

Mosquito issues and safety concerns

While I loved the country of Laos and my room was very clean and the staff was very kind and helpful I was battling mosquitoes in my room the entire stay. I think a staff member had left the door open before I checked in which led to the mosquito infestation. Thankfully I told the front desk and they gave me a mosquito repellant plugin which helped some but didn’t get rid of them all. I also felt a bit unsafe as I was right near the side exit door which they never closed or locked even at night. One day I came back to my room after breakfast and there was a random man sitting on my porch! And even when he saw me go into my room he didn’t leave until I went to sit out there myself. I also had issues locking my door as it’s a bit complicated and the door battery was low. There aren’t many options for luxury hotels in Luang Prabang but in all honestly I would probably not stay here again due to the mosquitos issue and safety concerns as a solo woman.

Pros: staff was very kind & helpful, location of the hotel was in close proximity to the morning & night market, and the room/hotel was clean.
Cons: the drainage for both the shower and toilet were a problem during our 3 night stay. Although the water pressure was excellent, the hot water ran out one evening and were told that we’d have to wait about 30 mins as the hotel is fully booked and it’s a busy time for showers. I wouldn’t have minded that, but a heads up of busy shower hours would have been appreciated. Our toilet also clogged every day, even though we followed the rules about throwing toilet paper in the trash bin instead of the toilet. We worked around it by waiting to flush again, once the level subsided.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel due to the location, cleanliness, and staff, but if you are particular about your showers as I am (water pressure & hot water), I would just be aware of the busy hours. The water pressure was great tho!
