Good stay in villa xanadu

We stayed a week in villa xanadu. It was great, big room with good bed, hot shower, refill water, you can ask for cleaning room every day. We had the room 107, really bright (5 windows, be careful on the morning).
An important thing to know is to not bring food inside otherwise a lot of little ants will come to eat your food !
The staff was not very friendly, don't expect them a lot of help or information. But it was ok.
Don't use Booking.com for the reservation it's too expansive ! We went directly at the hotel and negociated the price (10euros per night, fair price for the city).

Comfy, clean & location

We stayed here for a week and loved this place!
The bed was big and comfy. Room was clean including the ensuite bathroom. They had air con and a fan and definitely kept the room cool when the temperature was 37c. There was a tv with some good English channels.
Wifi was brilliant and worked every time with no issues.
Location was good, only about 10 mins from main area and night market. Few restaurants around but walk for 10 mins straight up the road and there are plenty of cheap eats and a supermarket.
Would recommend staying here if you're on a budget as has everything you'll need!

Rooms are clean, hot shower and wifi not so great. Did not like that there is a sign telling you to be in by 11.30pm. There is a TV in the room but it does not work. Not much customer service and the front desk is sometimes left so if you need something you are left waiting. Over priced at 160k a night.

Located 5-10 minute walk from city centre

I stayed here my first two nights in Luang Prabang, before moving to another property 5 minutes away. Room was reasonably clean, spacious and wifi was of very good quality. The short walk into town is along the same street if you keep right, or you turn left at Dara Market to get to the popular night market and shopping area. Close walk to the Alm giving ceremony from 0600 too. I was required to point out that Agoda stated a 1200/midday checkout, whereas all the signs displayed stated an 1100 checkout. Given staff did not speak English, nor I Lao, this and also checking in required me to be put on phone to someone else. All in all okay, but some placed offer an included breakfast for similar price. I ate breakfast for 20,000 kip from the Full Moon Cafe 5 minutes down the road in the right direction.

clean hotel rooms

Not a lot to say about it. A hotel room with hot private shower at a price to expect (120 kip). No communal area, so certainly not a place to get social with other travellers. There are also dorm bed for budget travelers (30 kip). But I wouldn't recommend these, because you sleep in a room with is separated from the main floor just with a big sheet. the young staff are friendly but certainly not on a customer oriented service attitude (they don't speak english well). The Wifi is in the room but not with reliable speed (on time I managed to do a video Skype call, other times I could hardly download my mails). To the city center (night market) it's a short 5-10 walk. I guess this is considered already out of the centre in luangprabang. Despite other reviews, you can book bus tickets with pick up at the lobby (i did). So, go there when you want your quiet private room and when you are out in town during the day anyway.
