This hotel deserves to be appreciated because of its typical character and, quite honestly, it is very clean.

This hotel deserves to be appreciated because of its typical character and, quite honestly, it is very clean.
During my stay from May 30 to 5, 2022 I found the staff very welcoming and always attentive, the maids came regularly to clean.
What more could you ask for, I had a spacious room with shower and toilet and satellite channel.
The hotel is close to a market...
The staff is magnificent and above all very attentive. Fally, Roland, Mbola and his colleagues go out of their way to make every customer feel at home.
I have been staying at this hotel for over 10 years and have always been satisfied. The only downside is their wifi, and the hot water which really needs to be reviewed.
Compared to other starred hotels I had the unfortunate luck of sleeping at TANA, the Normandy relay remains a unique place where life is good.

Don't go to Le Relais du Normand

Horrible experience. The room was small, paint on the wall was affected by water from the shower area. Phone hang on the wall did not work. Wifi was initially very slow then stopped working after 5 minutes.
Complained and gave them 15 minutes to fix the wifi issue...after 30 minutes decided to leave the hotel.
Initially they said I could not cancel the stay, then accepted when I threatened to write all about them on the internet.
I had paid with two 50 euros bills and asked to have them back, first they said they did not have any euros, after I asked to speak to the manager they finally paid me with small euros bills. Had to call the police on them.
Just a horrible place and horrible experience.
Avoid this hotel at all costs.

Catastrophe!!!

How can hot tea be spilled on a customer??? And to treat me they still wanted to wait for me to decide if I should get treated or not!!!
They completely stopped worrying about my condition after taking me to a doctor, no extra care when it was a 2nd degree burn. Even to reimburse the drugs they made me a ton of stories, versions of decisions that change every 24 hours!
No empathy or arrangement on the accommodation when it was because of the incident that I had to stay 2 more nights at home and they charged me the full amount! Burned Friday morning, Sunday morning they want to put me out because they want to sell the room I am in, without telling me of course and when I have the misfortune to ask the receptionist Mrs Mbola if in her opinion my condition allowed me to travel, she replies with: "I don't know ma'am, I am not a doctor and I have never been burned"
The manager, good professional and strict in his accounts never had time to see how the client was burned by his employees and even when I ask to speak to him, he can not receive me.
Horrible staff, lack of tact and consideration for customers. I won't even talk about the condition of the room which is no longer worth its Award with all the breakdowns we have in the bathroom... It just looks like a pass chamber.
Everything is to be rectified

Le Relais Normand

" Le Relais Normand ", built in 1950 , was my residence hotel in Downtown Antananarivo in close proximity to Gare Soarano(Antananarivo train station) and Independence Avenue situated in the city centre. It is one of the plush pre-independence buildings in this locality of Antananarivo. Inside this building you are transferred into a different World of plush luxury with antique memorabilia, artwork and vintage Madagascar photographs being the interior decor with excellent English music playing non-stop in the hotel restaurant/ reception lounge on the ground floor .The clientele was mostly Caucasian tourists with a mix of locals and other foreigners .Outside this hotel is the bustling market of Petite Vitesse with its narrow cobblestone road and heavy one way traffic in daylight hours. My room was on the third floor having a gallery with a view of the bustling street below .Only major drawback of this plush heritage hotel is the fact that it has no "Lift(Elevator)" and hence elderly tourists would find it tiresome walking up the stairs to the top most 4th floor.Building is triangular in shape and at night after darkness when all shops close this same busy Petite Vitesse Street becomes a "Ghost Street" ,desolate of humans. Excellent main lounge and restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel serving good food. Staff speaks English language.

Poor

So the location and pretty well day at night neighborhood a bit risky. The Award affordable but big downside bedding and very poor quality the lady who works at the reception you talk to her you have the Impression to bother them. Room service is non-existent. 2 days in a row we ask this lady if our room can be cleaned (yes, yes) nothing was done. This is the first time I have ever had this in a Pension in Antananarivo. For the same Award you can go elsewhere and be well received. There you really have the Impression that you bothered them. I would never come back again and strongly advise against it.
