MU Hotel

Highly recommend this hotel.
Clean, fixtures looks new, room is brightly coloured, cheers one up.
The hotel actuallt provided bolsters ....love it. This isnthe first hotel I came across that provides that. Small thing but it is makes a difference. *thumbs up* !
Front office staffs are polite and helpful. We find Addy, driver of the hotel shuttle cheerful and helpful. He went one step more, recommending places to eat and places of interests. I do believe that our trip was make more enjoyable because of him. Thank you, Addy.
Location is great too!

It is not a 4 star as it may seem...

Cute hotel from the outside, wants to give the idea of being renovated, but in reality only small changes have been applied to rejuvenate it, but it is absolutely not a 4 star! Far from the center, you need the grab to return in the evening. Small room, not very functional, very hot, not very comfortable bed, only the bathroom was nice, clean with a large shower, but you have to wait to let out the hot water. Disastrous breakfast, only coffee, to get some hot milk you have to ask the staff and anyway it is all watered down. We would have happily had breakfast outside if there was anything outside, but it is isolated from everything.

Good modern hotel

Very modern hotel, most likely a former Ibis Styles. Spacious and bright rooms with a good view. Staff was mostly helpfu. Breakfast selection was also good while staff there was sometimes very helpful while sometimes quite ignorant. The hotel's location within Ipoh worked well for us. Unfortunately the rooftop was closed during our stay.

A lacklustre stay

Likes:
(1) Nice contemporary décor.
(2) Reasonably friendly and helpful staff.
(3) One universal power outlet and one USB A port were provided. See photo.
Dislikes:
(1) Hotel’s location is not the most convenient for walking to the usual tourist places in Ipoh town.
(2) Check-in staff did not ask whether Agoda had collected the Malaysian tourism tax for the hotel stay (which Agoda had already collected) and almost double-charged me.
(3) Hotel did not check that the room safe was unlocked and usable before assigning the room to me. Wasted time having to chase for remedial action.
(4) The main door to room kept slamming. This was startling to me and annoying to the surrounding rooms/guests.
(5) Toilet seat kept dropping down. You needed to constantly hold it up during use.
(6) Hotel's wifi network was rather slow.
(7) There is an egg station at breakfast but it was not always manned.
(8) The gym on mezzanine floor was kept locked during my stay.

WITH ALL THE ESSENTIALS.

I gave it five stars because I found this hotel practical, comfortable with everything there must be.
Even the breakfast is not bad and especially has a "sweet" part and outside a girl who prepares fried eggs and omelets.
They also have a small gym.
Bravi.
