Absolutely blissful time in Kuching

We just LOVED this hotel! The location is perfect right by Carpenter and India street and close to the Sarawak river and walking distance to the Bornean Cultural museum and the Darul Hana Bridge with the musical fountains at 20h30 every night. The swimming pool was perfect after a hot day out sightseeing. As there is a mall adjoining it is easy to go shopping whether for clothes, groceries at Everrise or take-aways. Our room we upgraded to a river view which was absolutely stunning looking at the beautiful parliamentary building across the river and the fountain lights. The staff were AMAZING! Jeffrey who checked us in was such a honey and everyone was so helpful- the lady at the pool area was so sweet! Our room was lovely and so comfortable. The bed was great and the bathroom was stunning. The breakfast was probably the best I have ever had at a hotel. The selection of western and Asian dishes at the buffet did not end and everything so tasty and everyone so helpful. You can try all the traditional local dishes just at breakfast time and Kek lapis, Sarawak laksa and kolo mee are a must. We would absolutely love to come back and stay and although we were in Kuching for 4 nights, we feel like there is so much more to see even though we went to Semenggoh orangutan centre, Santubong river cruise, Royal Sarawak cruise, Carpenter street, the cat museum, the Waterfront, Borbeon Cultural museum (a must), the Chinese quarter and tracked down the cat statues. Thank you to the Waterfront hotel for making our stay special.

Overall disappointing

Initial communication great arranging airport transfer and and answering general questions about Kuching. Shuttle on time and lovely vehicle, check in was in the lobby and no executive lounge as advertised. The staff member failed to inform me of my lounge entitlements operating hours etc but quick to ask for tourist tax. The room large spacious and clean but notable ware & tare and mold in the shower grout and in the shower head. Quite and not much of a city view view. The lounge it was well presented but there was never any hot vegetarian options and nightly id highlight this with no offer to make some. There were snacks but often the cheese board featured no crackers ! I wasn't offered alcohol till the third night and assumed this was because a Muslim country, only options beer or wine. They did had nice daily cold drink. Never in all my travels has it been so limited to alcohol or vegetarian in a lounge. Nightly turn down lovely with a treat but failed to occur one night. My mini bar was never replaced though only had one drink as options were soft drinks i dont have. Public breakfast infinitely better than lounge reflective of options and they even had vegemite! The eggstation can get slow and the lady working there often seemed overwhelmed. Hotel walking distance to most attractions and have to say all staff were lovely. Elevators are crazy slow and often packed. Great gym and Pool area nice but enclosed so kids noise playing in it is amplified and there are many pigeons there which is unsavoury and an OHS issue. Barkeep was charming. After checking out I recieved a whatsapp message asking if I had taken the tv remote by accident which was the final disappointment to what id hoped would of been a great stay in a fairly expensive hotel. I replied in the negative and received a generic non committal response to appease, probably the same as management may offer here. Will not return and would not recommend.

Great hotel in a central location.

Super hotel in a prime location. Our room was huge and comfortable with a view of the river. Our room was quiet on the 8th floor. Stock located. Even though the windows are apparently not soundproof, we hardly heard any noise from outside.
All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
The pool with a beautiful view was great. The huge and abundant breakfast buffet was also excellent.
Everything was perfect; we could have stayed one more day here.
A small tip for sustainability: Instead of plastic bottles, it is better to set up water dispensers.

We stayed at The Waterfront Hotel for 10 days during the WYC 2026 Bowling Championships, and it was an excellent choice.
The location is fantastic, with the waterfront, plenty of restaurants, and local attractions all within easy walking distance. After long days at the bowling center, it was great to have a relaxing area to walk around and unwind.
The shopping mall connected to the hotel was very convenient, and we also enjoyed the pool and gym during our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel provided everything we needed for a comfortable 10-day stay.
We would definitely stay here again when visiting Kuching.
