Your Perfect Base for Exploring Taiping

A 4-star hotel located in the heart of Taiping, Perak, Novotel Taiping Perak is directly connected to Taiping Mall, offering accessible amenities such as a supermarket, convenience store, foreign exchange, and food and beverage outlets.
The distances to the following places are:
1. Pusat Penjaja Taiping (Night Food Centre) - 10m
2. Larut Matang Hawker Centre (Day Food Centre) - 300m
3. Taiping Lake Gardens – 450m
4. Taiping Telegraph Museum – 700m
5. All Saints’ Church – 1km
6. Perak Museum – 1.4km
7. Zoo Taiping & Night Safari – 2.4km
8. Burmese Pool - 2.8km
9. Simpang Taiping (Bus Point) - 7km
10. Kamunting Raya Bus Terminal - 7.2km
I took a coach from Johor Bahru and arrived at Taiping at 7 a.m. on a Wednesday. Upon arrival at Simpang, I booked a ride-hailing service to the hotel, which took 15 mins and cost RM10.30. Although the check-in time is 3 p.m., the room was available at 1 p.m. for my check-in.
Opened in 2016, Novotel Taiping Perak offers 197 guest rooms and suites. Despite its age, the premises and rooms are still rather well-maintained. Its facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, a children’s pool, and a fitness centre. The outdoor pool overlooks Taiping town with views toward Bukit Larut, making it one of the hotel’s most photogenic spots. The hotel’s all-day dining restaurant, Food Exchange, serves a variety of Malaysian and international dishes. The Gourmet Bar & Lounge, located on the ground floor, offers a selection of beverages, pastries, and light snacks.
The guest rooms start from the 8th to 13th floor. I booked the Premier Room with 1 King Size Bed and was accommodated in Room 1119 on level 11. The room measures 31 square metres and offers a lovely view of Taiping Lake Gardens, Bukit Larut and its surroundings.
The tv offers free-to-air local channels, in addition to selective cable channels. There is neither Netflix nor YouTube. Unfortunately, during rainy weather, the tv reception turned bad, and I was unable to view certain channels. A universal socket and USB sockets are available at the sides of the bed. Both the shower pressure and temperature work fine.
The housekeeping service could have been better. On the day of my check-in, some hairs were spotted near the room door. There were stains inside the fridge. The hand wash was not topped up. Despite this, I can overlook this gripe due to staff challenges in the hospitality industry. On the contrary, the services of the Front Desk Team were good.
Given its central location, direct access to the shopping mall, and rooms offering scenic nature views, I would recommend a stay at this hotel. If you are travelling to Taiping, look no further—this is possibly the best business and family-friendly hotel in the city. After all, this is the only international hotel brand in Taiping.

An excellent choice!

Two Nights at Novotel Taiping
There are hotels which impress by announcing themselves, and others which do so more quietly. Novotel Taiping belongs, happily, to the latter category.
We stayed for two nights and came away with the distinct impression that it represents remarkably good value for money. From our arrival, the hotel seemed to possess that increasingly rare quality of being both efficiently run and genuinely welcoming.
A good deal of that first impression was due to Sirus, the hotel concierge. He greeted us with warmth, professionalism and an evident knowledge of both the hotel and Taiping itself. What was most striking, though, was his enthusiasm. He spoke and acted with such obvious pride in the property, and paid such close attention to the details of our stay, that one might easily have mistaken him for the owner. It was a refreshing reminder that hospitality is often less about grand gestures than about somebody taking a genuine interest in whether you are comfortable.
Our room was spotlessly clean, the bedding comfortable, and the large window gave us a lovely outlook towards the Taiping Lake Gardens. The hotel itself was notably quiet, and the air conditioning — an important consideration in this part of Malaysia — kept both the room and public areas comfortably cool.
The location is particularly convenient. There is a walkthrough connection directly into the adjoining Taiping shopping mall, while just across the street is a large food court. Numerous restaurants are also close by, so one can step outside the hotel and find plenty of choices without needing to travel far.
Breakfast was included in our stay and presented one of those pleasant problems encountered in good Malaysian hotels: there was considerably more food than any sensible person could hope to sample. The range was extensive, varied and generous.
We were equally impressed by the restaurant staff. They were helpful, respectful and consistently well presented, with immaculate uniforms and a noticeable attention to hygiene and professional standards.
Novotel Taiping does not need to rely on extravagance to make an impression. Its strengths are more enduring: good people, a very convenient location, excellent cleanliness, comfortable rooms and exceptional value.
For anyone visiting Taiping, it is a hotel we can recommend with considerable confidence — and one to which we would very happily return.

Best hotel in Taiping

Another pleasant stay at Novotel Taiping. The location remains a highlight, with beautiful surroundings and easy access to the town. As an Accor Plus Platinum member, I truly appreciated the warm recognition and thoughtful benefits, and a special thank you for the room upgrade, it made the stay even more comfortable.
The staff were attentive, friendly and genuinely warm throughout my visit. The buffet spread was enjoyable, with a good variety of delicious and well-prepared food. A consistently relaxing and comfortable stay, and I always look forward to returning.
