Convenient Location, Cozy Rooftop Dining
I booked my stay through Trip.com at RM 241.90 on the same afternoon, which included dinner, breakfast, & the environment fee. For the price, the hotel offered solid value. The property has a refreshing atmosphere, with greenery & plants adding a welcoming touch. Practical features such as an elevator make access easy, & the rooms are cleverly designed to maximize limited space. Inside, amenities like a safe, a stocked Mini Bar, & universal power sockets show thoughtful attention to guest needs.
The rooftop restaurant is a highlight, offering a cozy ambience with views over a beach tennis court & the main road. Both dinner & breakfast menus were decent, & staff were generally helpful. For added convenience, a 24-hour grocery store is located about five blocks away, which is useful for late-night essentials.
There are, however, some points worth noting. Airport transfer is not included, so guests must rely on the MVR10 bus ride & a short walk or around MVR80 taxi per way, which is manageable but less ideal in rainy weather. At night, traffic noise can be disruptive if you are not a deep sleeper. Policies could be clearer. For example, whether the welcome drink is offered to all guests regardless of booking source, & whether coffee machine capsules are complimentary or chargeable. Mini Bar checks would be smoother if guests were informed immediately, avoiding delays before flights.
In Room 103, the toilet roll holder placement was awkward, & remote controls could benefit from more regular cleaning. The shower area appeared newly renovated, though the grouting may need reinforcement. Ventilation in the toilet would be improved with an exhaust fan, & hangers with clips would be a practical addition.
Overall, this hotel delivers a pleasant stay with a warm atmosphere & several thoughtful amenities. The rooftop restaurant & greenery around the property make it distinctive, & at RM 241.90 including meals for one adult & fees, it represents good value. With clearer communication & a few small adjustments, the guest experience could be elevated further.

Very disappointing and frustrating experience.
Yesterday, my girlfriend and I booked a room at Hotel Starshell, Hulhumalé’. Upon arrival, we were told that unmarried couples are not allowed, which was not clearly mentioned during booking.
On top of that, the receptionist was extremely rude and unprofessional. Instead of handling the situation properly, they refused to refund our booking and tried to pressure us into booking another room, clearly attempting to get more money from us despite it being their policy issue.
This behavior felt unfair, dishonest, and very disrespectful. If such policies exist, they should be clearly communicated in advance, and staff should treat guests with basic courtesy and professionalism.
Overall, a very bad experience. I would strongly not recommend this hotel.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Star Shell! All good! I would highly recommend it. It is very clean. The staff is very friendly and helpfull.

Not ALL INCLUSIE at all
Hotel was near the airport and the beach, BUT.
Room was small, but clean. But windows are not so good and you can hear everything from outside!
Meal services are really SUPER LIMITED!
We have booked all inclusive, which mean lunch (we were not able to use it due our late arrival), dinner (option from few meals and ONE drink from menu) and breakfast which is super limited. Really do not know how the hotel can has 4 stars.
Room was small, but clean. But windows are not so good and you can hear everything from outside!

I was in room 103 and the room itself was okay but you could hear everything in the hotel reception and restaurant from.1st thing to latecat night.
I also found that most of the plug sockets didn't work because somebody had tripped the fuses but I was left to fix that on my own.
Generally okay and may have been better in a different room but i wouldnt go back, sorry.
