In summary: a very beautiful room and a charming hotel, but a human experience that could be enhanced.
We stayed one night in this boutique hotel due to a late arrival related to our flight. The establishment had been informed in advance, and everything was perfectly organized: simple arrival, clear instructions, and impeccable preparation despite the late hour. A real positive point.
The room was very beautiful, spacious, and comfortable — certainly the main asset of this hotel. One immediately feels the charm of a human-sized establishment with a limited number of rooms, which seems to offer a typically very pleasant experience.
Unfortunately, our short night was cut short by construction work at the neighbors that started at 7 AM... unfortunate after a late arrival and a night already shortened.
The breakfast was very "so British," original, and pleasant.
Regarding the staff, one point remains improvable: we found the contact quite distant, without real attention given to the guests. For example, no one asked us if our late arrival went well. However, this seems to be an impression we sometimes felt during our stay in Malta, where the welcome sometimes lacks personalization.

Exceptional stay
We came to Ghaxaq to visit our son who is doing an internship in Malta, and what a wonderful discovery the Palazzo Castagna Boutique Hotel was. We stayed there twice, and everything was more than perfect! This place is exceptional and full of charm. The rooms are tastefully decorated and spacious, and remarkably clean; there is a rooftop pool and another one accessible via an underground path. During our second stay, we were even surprised to be upgraded, a gesture that touched us a lot. We ate at the restaurant several times and everything is excellent. The breakfasts are hearty and varied. I especially want to highlight the kindness, professionalism, and availability of the entire team, as well as the manager, who did his utmost to help us find our backpack left on a bus. We recommend this establishment with our eyes closed and we will return with immense pleasure during our next visit to Malta. A big thank you to the whole team!

Amazing stay! The staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and always happy to help. If you needed anything in particular, they were always available and very accommodating.
The rooftop is fantastic, and the dinner at the hotel’s restaurant was absolutely delicious.
The only downside was the breakfast. It’s a bit disappointing that there wasn’t more variety or more frequent changes in the selection from one day to the next.
Other than that, the hotel was excellent, and I would definitely recommend it. If I ever come back to Malta, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at this hotel again 😎

Perfect in every way - Hidden Gem away from crowds
Hidden gem! The rooms are new and very clean we appreciate clean hotels. Everywhere is clean and beautifully decorated and smells nice. The price is really value for money and included breakfast. The breakfast was freshly prepared and really good they serve both English breakfast and also Continental. Coffee and tea super they have good capuccino machine. I suggest adding some more cake/tarts for breakfast. The courtyard is really beautiful and quiet and relaxing. There is a small underground pool and a roof top pool and terrace. The staff were great too they were not nosy or full of questions which we dislike, they respected our privacy. This place is super amazing!! Highly highly recommended especially for quiet getaways away from crowds!

Just to thank all the staff and management for a wonderful stay in Malta. The hotel is a perfect base close to the airport, but also ideally situated for site seeing. The staff at the hotel are a credit to the management and really made our holiday, which is the reason we will be returning. Reception staff Mary & Teresa always pleasant and helpful. The rooftop pool staff were a great team and we had some good times with these guys. Deval, Krishna, and Shiva who really made our stay a memorable one, not to forget Noel (hired in chef) who treated us to some outstanding food on there once a week Tapas night, Noel’s food was outstanding and not your usual Tapas food, be sure to book it if your there on a Wed night. All in all a great experience and already looking forward to returning. We booked the underground pool which was a great way to escape the heat, highly recommend. Other reviews have criticised the cooked breakfast for been cold, which I would tend to agree with on the occasion I had it, I think this could be easily remedied by not putting so much food out at a time, may be something for the management to look into. Keep up the great work and have a great season, see you later in the year.
