Wonderful!
The room itself - cosy and comfortable (the most amazing clean cotton sheets and that mattress - oh my - I'm getting one!).
Traditional/authentic Maltese tiles - you've no idea how special that was to walk upon!
Every amenity you could wish for in a very peaceful part of Valletta.
I could not recommend these guys more highly - thank you!

Great location! Door codes often don’t work (and the hostel is unmanned during the evenings/overnights)
—Great centralization location. Everything you’d want to visit in Valletta is less than a 10-15 minute walk away.
—There is a nice welcome basket on your bed upon arrival (can of local bitter orange soda and cheese crackers).
—The manager is very friendly and helpful with local touring ideas.
—The Valletta/Sliema ferry is almost right outside the front door (cost is 3 euro one way, or 5 euro round trip).
—It’s only a 2-3 minute walk to a swimming area in the harbor (right next to the ferry). It’s all rock/coral (like most of Valletta), so bring water shoes.
—Good water pressure and plentiful hot water.
—Great wifi.
—Very safe area.
Bad-
—They use customized access codes for everything - one for the front door, another one for each of the dorm room doors, and yet another for the luggage room. In theory, this seems fine, but I had problems with literally every code with every door at some point during my stay. For example, the customized code for the front door doesn’t work for anyone between 4-6P’ish (the sun hits the door code reader and overheats the electronics and it becomes inoperative for everyone). Thank goodness someone was around to let me in. I’m told they are working in a solution. As for the dorm room code not working, if you input the wrong code twice it goes into a three minute lockout (only you don’t know that it’s a three minute lockout - i just assumed it was frozen). Again, luckily someone was around and explained the three minute lockout period (maybe put up a sign?)
—The A/C in my room was awful! It was set at 24 C - about 75 F. There’s no way it was anywhere near that temp during my entire stay! It was easily 80-82 F (and I use to run corporate buildings so I know). And you cannot lower the A/C yourself. Interestingly, the A/C in the kitchen/lobby is also set at 24 C was always nice and cool. When I visited the second time, the A/C tech was repairing the unit.
—Bathrooms are very small (like you can barely even turn around it’s that small). But this building is old, and it is what it is.
—The business is only manned during the day (up until 5-6P).
—The refrig for guest use is not the conventional refrig in the kitchen (which always has a lock on it). The guest refrig is actually behind a kitchen cabinet looking façade (which isn’t terribly apparent).
Summary-
I would not stay in the bunk bed/hostel section again, but I’d probably stay in the private room part again. I always consider value for what I paid (cost vs. quality). This is one of the most expensive hostels I’ve ever stayed at. However, they are fully booked most of the summertime, so they are priced right for the market.

As we also discussed privately on several occasions, I genuinely appreciated your professional background and the operational insights you shared. This is why I was somewhat surprised to see some of those same operational matters presented as criticisms here, especially since you were aware that we had already identified them and were actively working on resolving them during your stay. In fact, as you noted yourself, our technician was already on site addressing the air conditioning, and we are also in the process of upgrading our access system to eliminate the temporary issues with the door codes.
Regarding the bathrooms, these are indeed a limitation of a historic Valletta building, something we always try to present as transparently as possible while ensuring they remain clean and functional.
Your feedback is nevertheless appreciated, and we thank you for recognizing the positive aspects of your stay. We wish you all the best in your future travels and hope you enjoy the rest of your journey.

I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed our central location and found the team helpful during your stay. It's also great to know that you found the room comfortable and appreciated having the lift available, which can be quite useful in a historic Valletta building.
Thank you as well for your understanding regarding the bathroom size. As you mentioned, the building is very old and full of character, and while this does mean some spaces are more compact than in modern constructions, we do our best to ensure guests have a comfortable stay.
It was a pleasure hosting you, and I hope to welcome you back to Valletta again in the future.
Kind regards,
Norbert
