Budget & Charm

This hotel is a comfortable little gem at a good price. We stayed there an extra night because it was so peaceful and charming. The service was good, everyone friendly and helpful. lush trees, palms, plants and a few fruit trees surround the cozy little rooms. Inside the rooms are just basic. The pool was so good to come back to after a day of sightseeing in the town center. The hotel reminded me of those black and white movies in the 60's when the couple would escape to Acapulco for a secret rendezvous. It wasn't busy for March, which we liked. Great for couples at this time. They serve breakfast which is not included in the deal, next day we just had coffee which was good. There's a good restaurant at the corner of san Juan and the main street. There's a few small family run restaurants in between, and the food was good. There's a man selling fruits a few doors down, all to the right once you leave the complex. Taxi fare to go down town is only 40 pesos. There's a great ecological park 6 min walk, just go right once out of the complex and the first right takes you to it. Well worth the walk. The taxi ride in from the station seems a bit ominous, but don't let that fool you. The hotel is like a little fort, once you're in it's like you've been transported to another place and Cuernavaca has a pleasant vibe with sites like the Cathedrals all in close vicinity. The bus ride down from Mexico City is $320 pesos return on weekdays, weekends its' $380 return on the pullman de morelos bus, which was a lovely ride. These buses have movies, but the sightseeing is great. You can take this bus from the airport or from Central de Autobus del sur which is across the street from the Taxquena subway station, if you're not driving.

The worst treatment! The are deeply unethical!

I reserved and payed by Internet for a room under the name of a friend,
who arrived first and late in the night and was refused the room despide
having both an ID and the reservation code. She went elsewhere and
I did not even get a refund!!!

nice posada style hotel in quiet area

a good little place and priced accordingly. A little older but maintained. Nice pool and open area to enjoy the beautiful weather. Also has private parking which can be useful in a large town such as Cuernavaca.

Comfortable, friendly

I travel a lot and I've stayed in all kinds and levels of hotels. I liked it here because of the lush grounds. Here are my thoughts:
PROs:
- decent price for the area; Cuernavaca is a little pricey
- extensive lush gardens for a smaller establishment
- starfruit and mango tree - guests are encouraged to pluck the fruits from the trees and enjoy them
- lush trees cover the patio furniture, palms and flowers surround the pool, the large parking lot in the back is shaded by trees, a fairly large lawn area for play or BBQing is surrounded by, and partially covered by trees
- rooms have A/C. (Cuernavacas is somewhat humid and warm during the day. It cools off with a breeze at night, but A/C is nice during the day or interim period before sleep)
-good maid service - clean room, friendly maid, floor was mopped daily
- mini fridge in room
- each room has a decent-sized patio in front with a glass table and two chairs
-half of the rooms are single-level (no rooms above)
-small, pretty pool that was popular round-the-clock with a family or couple
-friendly owner, night staff
- secure, gated complex- both front and back gates were locked at night and monitored by a doorbell and camera system
-safe area; I walked around by myself during the day without any problems, quiet neighborhood at night
-located between the zocalo and downtown centro - many services and street food vendors within walking distance, zocalo/ tourist area and most restaurants are a short cab ride away (5 min, 35-40 pesos/ $3, although u can hop any number of buses/colectivos for about 5 pesos), local bus station is about 5 blocks away, Estrella/Pullman stations are a short cab ride
-two blocks from Parque Chapultec - a large, gorgeous city park with lush grounds, little waterfalls, elevated path, small zoo, and man-made lake. $1 entrance fee
- friendly guests, quiet atmosphere
- hot water in shower, decent water pressure
-typical breakfast included (sweetbread and coffee); guests can order a bigger breakfast from the on-site restaurant - decent prices and food
-later breakfast hours - 8am to 11ish
-two parking lots, always plenty of parking
CONS:
- Wi-Fi did not connect from my room, I had to sit in the lobby (strong signal there), other guests could connect, but it was weak/spotty
- the lush grounds = many aggressive mosquitos, although I found that I could not escape their merciless attacks anywhere in the city - with or without my Super Strength Mosquito Repellent from Thailand. Yikes! After 3 days, I looked like a 1950's Throwback with the mumps.
- the bathroom had a slight moldy smell most likely due to the fact that guests kept the bathroom door closed to prevent mosquitos from entering the bedroom (there's a small, open vent without a screen in the bathroom)
- small, basic room
- room was a little dark, despite the large window in front
Pro/Con:
+ long pool hours (great when I wanted to swim)
- long pool hours (not so great when Newly Arrived Family with excited kids went swimming at midnight, or Drunk, Giggly Couple was swimming/drinking at 5am)
* Generally, this was a quiet atmosphere. It is NOT a "party hotel" .
To sum up, if hotel perks are not important to you, and a serene garden environment is, then you will enjoy it here.
Happy travels!
