A small Mexican family hotel with beautiful oceanside views at a fair price

Driving from the U.S. to our winter home near Puerto Vallarta, my wife, I and our dog stopped here for 2 nights. Our oceanside room with balcony was clean, spacious, secure, quiet (except for ocean waves breaking 50 feet away) with plenty of hot water and excellent wi-fi from 3 routers around the property. The English speaking reception staff were friendly and helpful. The place is older and in need of some cosmetic repair, but as I said, clean, comfortable and everything that should work does. The pool was warm, the beach in front small and rocky. We plan to return here on our northbound trip home in April.

small and quiet hotel right on the beach

Dont expect 5 star and you will not be disapointed, staff are great. you get the mexican flavour here as small and intimate. Rooms are not fancy but have pretty much everything you need and are clean. If you want relaxation, beautiful sunsets and wonderful wave watching this is the place

Place was a dump!!

Where do I start.. Roaches everywhere, old dilapitated linens and beds. Broken tiolet for 2 days. No toiletries. Holes in towels. Found worms inside restroom. By far the worst hotel experience ever! I'd rather sleep in a car then to ever visit a place this run down. NOT RECOMMENDED!!

Excellent Price, Friendly, Safe, Clean

We won a room here from a charity auction. We paid over list price...which was still CHEAP for a room in Mazatlan, on the beach, with a kitchenette that sleeps 4! We were nervous after reading reviews, but now that we are home all I can say is...it was delightful. The beach was not rocky (time of year?), quiet, and beautiful. Contrary to establishment's claims, there is NO restaurant or bar here. Place is in need of multiple cosmetic upgrades, but it was clean and comfortable and CHEAP. Only one person on staff that we met spoke english....but hey, you are in Mexico where Spanish is the primary language. We had fun with a young security guard (one is always on staff) trying to get a pizza delivered. Very nice young man. There is a small grocery a block north you can walk to, so we ate breakfast in room daily (saves $$). We had to watch the tide (rocky area to north of hotel), but when it was low/mid tide, we could walk a few miles up to the end of Cerrito Beach. We enjoyed excellent food on beach up a ways at Lupitas. Another bar up even further (attached to a hotel) has swings for barstools. 5 minute cab/Uber ride to Golden Zone. If you don't need all the fancy comforts of an Americanized hotel, this is a great little spot.

Horrible

Room location was awesome (sort of ). Ocean front. Unfortunately nothing could be left unguarded. We lost a few items before we figured out that unless we were on guard, things were stolen by other guests. The parking lot runs along the entire side of the building. People would park their trucks and cars and turn on music at ear splitting volume. Not one at the time either. Sleep was out of the question even with ear plugs. A couple of friends had money stolen from their rooms and an iPad smashed. Yes. That was an accident but still bad. The electric comany cut off power to this property a couphle of years ago and it operates on generator, which emits toxic fumes. The only place to get wifi reception was beside the generator. Gross! Hot water was sporadic. I finally had to hold keys to another suite hostage before they dealt with my having only cold water for 3 days. Party tours come from Durango and destroy everything. Broken windows and glass everywhere. I would NOT ever think of staying here again. Even if it was for free. So disappointing. Beware

Very good location
