Pleasurable stay
I highly recommend this place for a long or short term stay. This was the fourth time I've stayed here. The suites are spacious, nicely decorated, very clean and comfortable. It's a family run operation and the manager (Thelmy) and staff are helpful and lovely. They go out of their way to recommend great places to eat and sightsee around and outside of the city.

They said they weren't expecting me!
On arriving to check-in, the place said they didn't have my reservation c/o expedia,but atleast I hadn't paid yet.I can't remember the last time I was victim to a double-booking, but obviously it happens from time to time.But then all of a sudden 2 other parties came to check-in.One had booked with booking and the other with hotels.And the receptionist told them that she didn't have their reservations either.So it's fairly obvious the hotel was in the wrong, and surely not THREE different booking websites.Why is the hotel so desoerate to full it's rooms that it does that.What have they got to hide?....................

Great Location and Community
My husband and I have been staying at the Suites del Sol for many years and I stay for three months. The owner, his daughter Thelmy and the staff are most helpful, caring and kind. They are also prompt when something needs fixing or replacing. They assist everyone from tours to medical emergencies. The location is especially good just off the Paseo Montejo. The apartments are basic and vary in size. At Suites del Sol they do their most to please you. Many residents have been returning for years and the mutual support is exceptional. For Thelmy and all we are one big family. English is not an issue. I recommend the Suites for both short and long term stays.

Home away from home
Excellent facilities, very friendly service. Fantastic location, a few steps away from wonderful Paseo Montejo. Proprietors went out of their way to assist in every way. I will never forget their kindness.

This Could Get to be a Habit!!
I recently spent a month at Suites del Sol in Merida and it was exactly what I had expected from having read previous reviews on TripAdvisor. It is a family owned and managed building in a great central location, within walking distance to everything. 3 generations of the family work there, their staff have all been with them for several years, and they and their many repeat visitors have all become like a family.
What I hadn’t expected was the open-hearted way that I was welcomed into the community and made to feel as though I was part of the family. The “heart” of the business is the manager, Thelmy, for whom nothing is too much trouble. As a solo traveller and newcomer to Merida, with limited Spanish language skills, I’m not sure how I would have managed for my first few weeks there. Thelmy was always available to help; with orientation to the city, advice on the best place to get a SIM card for my phone, which ATMs are reliable, information on local markets and restaurants, suggestions on tours of the area, arranging taxis for me, and unlimited assistance with any little issues that came up during my stay. I was sick in bed on the day I was supposed to move from my apartment, Thelmy not only had medicine delivered to me, she somehow managed to make the apartment available to me for an extra couple of days until I was strong enough to move. That is the kind of person Thelmy is.
Thelmy’s son, Joaquin, who is in the office in the evenings, was invaluable in helping me sort out some computer and cel phone app problems I had while I was there. All maintenance issues were dealt with immediately and there is a night watchman.
If you are looking for a comfortable, spacious apartment in a secure building in a wonderful neighbourhood and community, in a very safe and fascinating city, I can’t recommend Suites del Sol in Merida highly enough.
