Like most all inclusives, you need to make reservations at all the good restaurants and the staff always tells you they are completely booked out. Then you finally get one and the restaurant is basically empty. I asked about this to the "premium" concierge and they told me that the reservations are for only 50% capacity. When you try to just walk in and get a table without a reservation, they tell you they can't accommodate you. It's obvious they want people to resort to eating at the buffet, which was decent, not nothing to brag about. Also, this place is massive so be prepared to walk a ton to get around. All the good activities (go karts, bowling, rock wall, arcade, surfing, jet ski, slides) cost atleast $20-40 USD extra per person. The kids water playground closes at 6pm every night, which was disappointing and the main pools also close before it gets dark so there isn't much to do in the evening. We visited in July and the main pools water was warm so not that refreshing. The beaches were also filled with that sargassum and you had to walk past 3 ft piles to even get into the beach, which was super rocky. I've seen some resorts do a much better job with daily shoveling and removal of the sargassum, but barcelo just left it there to stink up the coastline.

was a great experience. The resort is set up for you not to leave but any, even if you do, they do have options readily available for you to participate in excursions to a variety of different touring options.. The food was excellent at the restaurant we ate at, and the buffets were decent as well.

It was our first time staying at Barcelo Palace. We stayed in the Oaxaca Building and our room was somewhat close to the pools. The room itself felt spacious and had lots of storage pace for a family of three. The property itself is large and combines several of their other hotels. The hotel offers shuttle service to the other parts of the hotel but we walked and felt it wasn’t more than a 20 minute walk to get to their furthest property. This is an all inclusive resort but we were not premium so we didn’t have free room service. My daughter was bummed about it but it was ok as we didn’t spend much time in the room. We liked the food at the buffet as well as their Brazilian and Seafood restaurants. Staying in the Palace allows you to eat at restaurants at the other properties. We also ate at their Italian and Spanish restaurant. Overall, we really liked the food! The servers were attentive and friendly. The only issue is having to make reservations for some of the restaurants. We really wanted to try their hibachi restaurant but we realized too late that we needed to make reservations at the beginning of our trip vs towards the end.
The sargassum is prominent but we also travelled during the month of May. We didn’t swim in the beach because of the sargassum. The hotel was probably at 60% capacity and it could be a result of the sargassum. On the bright side, we had no issues finding lounge chairs by the pool. The pool is great! We also enjoyed the entertainment.

There was some seaweed (visited mid May) which was disappointing. But I was still able to snorkel and see fish and sting rays. Overall we had a great time. Food and service were excellent.

Excellent experience, we went to two different hotels and this one was way better as compared to the first, I wish we would have stayed longer and get to see the rest of the hotels and amenities.
