Posada de la Moneda in downtown Zacatecas

Posada de la Moneda Hotel is a great place to stay because all the top museums in the city are within walking distance. The room was very clean and spacious. I wish some hotel rooms in Europe had this kind of room. The staff is very friendly. The front desk receptionist Yolanda was very helpful. If your hungry Sanborns Restaurant is nearby so you stop by and order take out food and take it to your room if you prefer. Another thing , if peace and quiet is your main concern then this hotel is not for you because of the noise from the constant traffic from the street down below. Also , you can also hear musicians playing their music in the nearby plaza. So at times it was hard for me to get some sleep but i was okay with it because i was only in town for several days. Overall i recommend this hotel.

Fantastic location; Do not book through official-looking Web site

I have stayed at the Posada de la Moneda hotel many times over the years. It is quite basic for the rate, but they will never have problems charging what they do with such a fantastic location on Hidalgo. The employees are pleasant, too.
I felt obliged to write a review after a very unpleasant experience paying for a room ahead of time. I used the Web site with the name of the hotel plus "com.mx." It looked suspiciously similar to sites for other moderate Mexican hotels, but I ignored that and paid. Now I know that the Hotel Posada de la Moneda is overpriced and ever more expensive, so I was not too surprised by the rate. I was unpleasantly surprised, however, when after arriving at the hotel I found that I had paid 7-10% more than anyone else. An employee of the hotel told me that the Web site belonged to a travel agency and "we just charge what they tell us to charge!" The employee's advice is to just telephone the hotel directly to make reservations. That is my advice, too!

Great location, helpful staff

This hotel is central to theater and cathedral. This made up for the basic rooms and noise of the area. Beds were very firm and pillows small. One towel per person. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would stay again for location.

Excellent location, spacious room, good value

Meters away from the Cathedral. An excellent value for those who are not hung up on luxury accommodation. The room was large and bright. The dining facility was nothing special but several good eating spots for all meals were within minutes. The rooms could be noisy but what can you expect when your room overlooks the main drag on a weekend. The music was entertaining and stopped by 2200hr. It took the water a few minutes to warm up and the shower drained slowly but So what.The only negative is that the hotel offered no safe so I had to carry our passports and . Cards in my belly pack for our entire stay of 5 days.
However were on a 5 week trip so the combination of the excellent price and location made that a small nuisance. Better to spend our funds on other things. I might also add the we are in our 60's and have done a fair bit of travel on 5 continents.

Excellent location but a little noisy

Although its location cannot be better, you do hear some noise bc it's located on the main avenue, close to the cathedral. However, there are many shops and restaurants in the blocks around and it's just a good place to sleep and rest. The hot water takes a while to start, but it will come.
Buen hotel, le faltan algunas cosas, como elevador y es un poco ruidoso por la noche si escoges habitación con vista a la calle, pero te dan buen servicio, wifi gratuito y está ubicado en el corazón de la ciudad.
