Relaxing and Beautiful

The hacienda is not the type of hotel that I normally give a 5 star rating. I’m providing a 5 star rating based on service and the absolute beauty of the grounds. When we arrived Alejandro and Christian met us at the taxi and the great service started there. The rooms are very charming and very historic. There is not AC but the building is cement and though it was 86 degrees during our visit the room was never hot. There was a ceiling fan and a stand up fan. Ladies bring your own shampoo and conditioner. We were there for a wedding and they did an Amazing!!!! Job with decorations of fresh flowers and candles and it was just beautiful. The food at the wedding was average as you would expect from a venue feeding a large group of people but the service was outstanding. The next morning was a Sunday breakfast with so many authentic breakfast choices and all was sooooooo good! Not many hear speak English, which is to be expected since you are in Mexico and we speak a little Spanish but Christian who spoke a little English was always close by the help us. The people who work here were always trying to help. A beautiful relaxing spot that takes you a step back in time.

A Lot of Great Views.

The grounds are quiet and lovely, the buildings include a wedding chapel, and date to the 19th century, mostly. We visited for a destination wedding.
Located in Zapopan, Jalisco State Mexico, it's about a hour drive from the Guadalajara airport. Use an official Uber or taxi to get there.
The rooms open out to a courtyard where there is a cafe and a reastaurant. The staff were friendly and good natured. As for our room, it was at the top of the stairs, second floor, no elevator. Decorated in a country Mexican style, the bedding was comfortable and the bath was okay. Clean, filtered drinking water is provided in the rooms.
We thought the housekeeping was a bit lax. The tile floors needed more sweeping, the drains in our room ran slow.
As a party venue, the catering was great, the table set fine and the service good too. However by USA standards, the food wasn't iced or served cold as appropriate, so food poisoning was a worry. We asked to have our food heated, they REFUSED saying they already cooked it! In the end some of us gringos refused to eat it, so nobody was sick afterwards.

Beautiful place, terrible service

Our family had an event at this hacienda and the premises were absolutely breathtaking, no denying that. Everything went smoothly in the event, the waiters at the party were very attentive, especially our waiter Oscar, awesome service from him. We all had reservations to spend the night at the boutique hotel. This was such a mistake that left us with a terrible impression of the place. First of all, the price is very expensive. When you pay this amount of money for a stay, you expect good service. You are not allowed to bring in any outside food or drinks into the premises, they will charge you. How ridiculous! The morning after, breakfast was included in our stay. As soon as we walked into the dining area, the manager (the rudest woman I have ever encountered in a hotel service) was very adamant about where we could and could not sit. Completely rude in her demeanor. This woman was very difficult to deal with, I would not recommend this place to anyone if you have to deal with her. We will not be returning just for this reason. Dear Hacienda La Magdalena, do better in your hiring process.

Friendly, beautiful hotel

We practically had the hacienda to ourselves, the overall place is so picturesque, gardens and pool were wonderful. The staff were fantastic, they were friendly, helpful, couldn't do enough for us, even though we spoke so very little spanish they would always figure out what we needed, and did every thing they could to attend to our needs. I just wish their plumbing was more up to date, as I would have to wait a good 10 minutes for hot water to come through, and no air conditioning but we had a ceiling fan. The spa was excellent. Breakfast was great. Honestly people it truly is a wonderful place to stay at.

Worst experience ever

Family and friends we all came to Hacienda la Magdalena from México city for my brother wedding this very weekend.
Since the very first moment we've checked in at the front desk, the lady miss treated all of us.
Her attitude was very rude motiveless, even though prices are not cheap and we were principal guests, we all full filled the hotel rooms, besides we've payed and rented the chapel and the garden.
As we were paying for the room, she was just asking if we were going to eat, we've must decide at that very moment and tell her, otherwise she wasn't going to let us order for a meal before the wedding.
Rooms are terrible, decoration it's mediocre, there's no light, it's very dark, customised with very old things, very bad taste.
There are not air conditioning in the rooms, and there is no protection for mosquitoes on windows, although there are not black out curtains. The worst place to get rest and sleep.
Next morning, after the wedding, that rude lady from the front desk started to call every one of us to our room, threatening us for checking out immediately and to get breakfast at that very minute, arguing that she had a very long list of people who was about to check in at her hotel, what of course, it was the biggest lie ever.
Since we've arrived, we asked politely if we could have some chance to make late check out on Sunday and she was extremely aggressive with her attitude and response.
Sunday brunch was very poor quality, there is no variety on the buffet, there were out of coffee before noon, at least that's what they told us.
I hope anyone visit this place, this opinion it's nothing personal, I'm just sharing our family experience of one and a half day of the worts weekend at Hacienda la Magdalena.
I hope the owners take some action with this front desk lady, and take this constructive comments.
It's a pity.
This in not a Boutique Hotel.
