Very good experience: staff is very kind and always helpful
What we like most:
1. Staff is very very very very kind and helpful. They (2 ladies we met) both speak a good English and they both helped us as much as it was possible. Their presence is 24 hours, since one of them sleeps in the guesthouse (and she is much more than kind and helpful)
2. Position is very good, because you can reach the main square of UB in 10 minutes. All UB attractions are in walking distance (I would not choose a hotel / guesthouse far from the city centre because of the terrible traffic)
3. Price is very good compared to European / Western standard.
Lotus Guesthouse is not modern in forniture (so may be someone would not like it), but everything is clean and working.
We loved Lotus Guesthouse because of the kindness and courtesy of its staff.

This place will not win any awards for modern decor but is spotlessly clean and the owner who speaks good English is willing to help with anything you enquire about

Noisy, untidy guesthouse.
Problem: no one is in charge, thus it is impossible to have a decent night’s sleep. Guests babble and cackle until the wee hours while some start making loud noises before 7am, ignoring requests to be quite. Our nights were a nightmare.
There is a general feeling of neglect. The lady at the reception gives the impression she couldn’t care less. We had to ask for a key and a code, were not given a towel and not explained anything about the facilities.
The kitchen is extremely small, with few utensils.
Toilets are just sufficiently clean.
We were at many guesthouses during our trip. This one was the worst. It’s a pity.

Good solid hostel
The place could perhaps do with a bit of renovation, and perhaps the kitchens can be better appointed.
Still, recommend staying here if on a budget. Nice place.
