Great location. Room ok. No elevator. Had to argue to not pay for beer from the minibar that was more than a year expired.
Dement breakfast at the restaurant on the ground. Terrible and loud music during daytime at the sunbeds.

Food was good, reception staff diabolical!

Went for food and the service was really good, went to leave and asked where the toilets were at the reception, the girl on there was unbelievably rude, didn’t lift her head up, just said they women’s where out of order and gave us a code for the men’s. The toilet was disgusting. Can’t get my head around people being in the hospitality business and being so bloody rude.

Hot and irritated

After a long drive from Dubrovnik we were looking forward to relaxing in our room before sightseeing. The issues started with incorrect parking directions that added 10 minutes to our walk dragging luggage through busy streets in 90+ (36) degree heat. Once we arrived at the hotel, the lovely receptionist checked us in. She informed us AFTER check in that the air conditioning in the hotel was not working and had been out for 3 days! She promised a portable fan was already in our room and it would be cool. We were on the top floor with a tiny window facing another building. The room was hotter than the hallway, easily 85-90 degrees. No fan, in fact the heat was turned on full blast. I called down to the desk immediately and they promised to bring a fan. Twenty sweltering minutes later they arrived with an industrial fan that was larger than an adult. They turned it on and it immediately blew everything off the desk and scattered our belongings across the room. They tried to turn it down and then realized that was the lowest setting. It sounded like an airplane was idling in the room. They promised they would bring a quieter fan with cooling capabilities as soon as possible. Needless to say, after asking multiple times the other fan never arrived. We did not get any sleep as the room remained hot and the sound of the fan was so loud it was impossible to sleep. We paid well over the average rate to stay at this hotel. It is inexcusable that they didn’t tell us in advance that the air conditioning wasn’t working so we could find another accommodation. In addition to our distress, the staff were visibly sweating with no fan available to them. The hotel should have been closed. I have no interest in supporting a business that doesn’t care about its employees or customer’s health or comfort. Recommend you avoid and book at one of the adjacent properties as the old town is worth a visit.

No aircon or running water in 30 degree plus heat.

Most reception staff were lovely and helpful but we had no aircon in our room for four days and there was a distinct lack of urgency about getting the problem fixed, despite sweltering heat. It still wasn’t fixed by the last night at which point we had no water in our room either. Waiting staff at the attached Astoria Beach were very disorganised and took a long time to take orders and accept payment despite seemingly not having anything else to do. On this, our last night, with still no aircon or running water, I complained to reception and was met by a series of people passing the buck or running away and one particularly large waiter trying to intimidate me with his size, rather than anyone actually trying to solve the problem until, eventually and after I had made a fuss, two other waiters brought an extremely loud aircon unit to our room. It’s a lovely country and location overall but this particular establishment really needs to up its game. There are 11 of us in 4 rooms for a week here, we’ve spent a lot of money and are really not asking for that much.

Very well named, not deserving of it! When you see “Astoria” don’t get exited. A very old property (last remodel dates back to the 90’s or longer) by main gate.
Breakfast not worth it. The problem is they don’t comprehend English!
If you don’t like smoking this is the wrong country to visit!
Kudos to Best Service from Vasily and the young girl at Front Desk!
