Time out from Marrakech

If you don't want to spend the night in the center of Marrakech (which I can only recommend), the farm is in great hands! The terrain is huge and very nice. There are 2 pools and many animals. We also ate here often as everything was super delicious and special. On our departure there were some complications with our taxi but at the reception we were helped a lot which was reassuring. The only thing to consider is that the area around the hotel is not so great and you might not want to wander around there on foot. You need a taxi to the city center and the airport, which costs about 15 euros one way.

Avoid — serious operational and payment issues

I would not recommend Ferme El Dar. The property looks charming online and the farm-style setting has potential, but our actual stay was very poor.
We experienced repeated electricity cuts, water issues, and non-functioning AC. One night was genuinely terrible: no reliable electricity, no proper cooling, and water interruptions. In Marrakech heat, that is unacceptable. Other guests staying there at the same time were saying the same thing, so this did not feel isolated.
Service was also very slow and disorganized. We had to chase staff constantly, food arrived cold multiple times, and the restaurant was mediocre while being extremely expensive. Drinks were overpriced, and even basic room water was not provided.
The payment experience was a major red flag. The hotel charged our card multiple times, and getting the duplicate charge refunded was unnecessarily difficult. Other reviews also mention similar payment problems, which is worrying.
I also found the pressure around reviews uncomfortable. After the stay, they kept pushing for positive feedback, and there seemed to be a pattern of encouraging perfect scores, including reimbursement offers. That makes the ratings feel questionable.
The setting is nice, but that does not make up for the poor operations, payment issues, lack of reliable power/water/AC, and overpriced mediocre food. I would not stay here again and would strongly discourage others from booking.

Run away

Everything is badly maintained, dirty. Pool cushions are filled with stains, the greenhouse that serves as a dining room has broken stained glass windows and doors are all dirty, cats are everywhere, the menu very expensive. We had booked three nights and left after a few hours having to pay for the three nights. the manager called us later to tell us that he was refunding us two nights if we removed our comments .. which he never did; it's a real scam

Superb!

Absolutely loved our stay here! It is such a beautiful place, and only 15 mins in a cab from the medina - 15 euro. Loved it in the Medina, we went eveywhere. Friends had said we wouldn't like it, as you get hassled everywhere you go. Not our experience at all, and Dutch guests that we met at the farm, told us that they weren't hassled either. We found some lovely Riads to stay in, Palais Donab would be one, around The Secret Garden(beautiful), so north west of the souks, which seems to be the nicest area, with classier shops. We have booked again for March 2026, and have on reflection, decided on The Ferme el Dar for the week - and get cab into town
