A little paradise.

The Riad Dar Zen is a true little paradise.
A renovation done with great taste and very comfortable rooms.
Our guests reflect all the kindness and generosity of Moroccan culture.
A special mention for Tarik, always available, discreet, and delightful.
In short, a timeless interlude in this very beautiful, understated Riad, particularly well located in the heart of the medina yet in absolute tranquility.

misunderstanding????

this unfortunately was my worst experience ever..... it started with a big misunderstanding. we were in the medina looking for the riad, as all tourist, we stop every few corner and try to see were we are... we were close and then a guy arrives and makes gestures... it looks like he want's to take a picture of us... we say no no... but he continues, we can't hear him since it's noisy... again, we try to brush him off... then he finally says Dar Zen Dar Zen.... so ok we understand he's someone from the Riad.... but then, he is supper frustrated.... so you think i wasn't an honest person, that i wanted to scam you.... we try to explain the situation and that it was not personal, we are not used to the medina and for a tourist it's a bit overwhelming...but for him, it was over.... when we arrived, he was like... look can you read the sign, is this Dar zen, do you still think I'm a scammer, i made the room earlier for you and this is how you show me your appreciation.... i've been working here 20 years, i'm an honest person... and he kept going and going... he brought us to the room and again, so it it like the pictures, do you think you're at the good place...the next day at breakfast again, he started ... so do you finally think you're at the good place. We were so uncomfortable, it was really by far my worst experience. i work with the public as well and sometime i want to punch people in the face but i don't.... business is business and the show must go on.... We are nice people, really respectful...if we would have been there for 2 days, i would have left after the first day.... we did not even enjoyed the place since everything we got out of the room we would kind of run to make sure we don't see him....

Good location and comfortable room, but service could be more attentive

Riad Dar Zen is a reasonable option for a short, one-night stay if your main goal is to visit the old medina in Rabat. We arrived at night and only planned to sleep and leave the next morning, and for that purpose it worked well.
The location is good, but like many riads inside old medinas, it is difficult to find. The staff member did come out to meet our car and guide us to the riad, which we appreciated. Guests should be aware that you must carry your own bags for about a 5–7 minute walk through uneven, bumpy streets inside the medina. Assistance with luggage was not offered, even for smaller bags such as a laptop bag, so this riad is better suited for backpacks or light, easy-to-carry luggage rather than large rolling suitcases.
The room itself was spacious and comfortable, actually the largest room we stayed in during our riad experiences. The bathroom was well equipped, amenities were plentiful, and bottles of water were waiting for us. While the riad is not particularly luxurious, it was clean and comfortable, and considering prices in the area, it offers decent value.
Breakfast was a highlight of our stay. The traditional Moroccan breakfast was very good, and when the staff was unsure whether we preferred tea or coffee, they kindly brought both, which we appreciated.
Interactions with the staff were generally polite but felt somewhat abrupt at times. We were required to write down detailed personal information at check-in, including passport numbers, addresses, dates of birth, and signatures. The completed forms were left unattended on a table overnight and were still there the next morning. I ended up picking them up myself, as I was uncomfortable having sensitive personal information left out in a shared space from a privacy and security standpoint.
One issue that affected our stay was noise late at night. Around 11 pm, loud phone calls were made in the common area, and since we appeared to be the only guests, the sound carried and woke us up. We were significantly jet-lagged at that point, which made it difficult to fall back asleep and impacted our overall experience.
In summary, this riad offers a good location, a large and comfortable room, and solid amenities, making it a practical option for a brief stay. However, more attentiveness to guest comfort, privacy, and quiet hours would improve the experience.

Excellent Riad

Excellent ryad within average.
Clean and well equipped room.
Owner friendly and helpful.
Good Moroccan breakfast.
The only drawback, the road to get to the structure (closed as it ends in front of the Riad) is dirty and full of cat excrement... should be cleaned better.
