Great little jam in the middle of Amsterdam

Great little studio apartment. Walking distance to most everything. The bed was super comfortable. The kitchen had all the pots, pans, and utensils needed. Coffee was supplied however if you not drink decaffeinated you were out if luck. Bring your own spices. Which makes sense because I would be cautious if they were opened spices available. Bastian was available if we had questions ... We could not get the sound on the TV to work, we called him up, and he came down promptly to fix it.
In the late night the bell from the church would ring. It woke me up a few times but it was really nice to hear. There is no air-conditioning. Only a fan, a floor fan. So if you wanted to keep the room cool you’d have to open the windows. However there are no screens on the windows so if you do open the windows bugs get in.
I’m not sure why in Europe The windows do not have screens on the windows to prevent insects from coming into the building/house/suite. I think an improvement for the suite would be to add screens to the windows.
The bathroom was fine. It was just off the kitchen. No big deal. it was clean however because the tiles are old it didn’t seem so clean. So an improvement for the property would be to redo the tiles in the shower area.
Other than needing screens on the windows and redoing the tiling in the bathroom, this is a little gem in the middle of Amsterdam. It has a washer and dryer located in the kitchen which is extremely convenient especially if you were staying for an extended period. It is walking Distance to most everything, it is comfortable, and cozy.
I would recommend staying here and would not hesitate to stay there again… Especially if they put the screens on the windows Or installed air conditioning, rather than floor fans.

Excellent Location, Super Clean and functional

We loved the location, cleanliness and functionality of this apartment. Désirée was super helpful. Guido’s website is probably the most organized, functional and contains excellent information to access the apartment and see Amsterdam. We required transportation to the airport prior to the Metro and trains being operational and Désirée arranged a taxi with John who was prompt and reasonable. We would stay here again and definitely recommend this location and host.

Much More Than I Expected

I had the pleasure of renting the Amsterdam Canal View Suite recently. Every part of the rental was more than I expected. A taxi met me at the airport and I was able to check in very early. I specifically wanted an apartment that didn't have a lot of stairs and this was perfect...just 3 steps up from the street. The apartment is very attractively furnished. The manager was there to welcome me and show me around the apartment. The apartment is very clean, comfortable, and so well equipped with anything you can think of...lots of extra towels, kitchen tools, bath products, coffee pods, even a single bed for a friend that was arriving later in the week. I was worried about not having air conditioning and for several days the temperature was near 100 degrees F (which is unusual for Amsterdam) but the layout of the apartment and the interior windows that open onto a courtyard kept the apartment cool enough with just a fan. The apartment itself is very well located near a metro stop but I was able to walk almost everywhere. There is a lovely view from the table at the front of the apartment which was the perfect place for enjoying the view of the two canals. Having a washer and dryer was a plus and both worked really well. The high speed WiFi was well used. I appreciate that the owner and manager were easy to reach if I had a question and really seemed to care about the comfort of their renters. This is one apartment that I would definitely recommend to anyone!

Owner violates guests' privacy

We are two-middle aged women who travel frequently and globally. Both of us were shocked when Bas, the owner of Canal View Apartment, entered our apartment without giving prior notice. He didn’t even knock before letting himself and a repairman in with a key. It was mid-day and both of us were resting (in bed and partially clothed). Upon entering, Bas immediately saw that we were sleeping (bed & living room were one large space) and remarked that we should just continue to sleep; they were there to fix the TV. We asked that they leave immediately. He told us he was the owner and then challenged us to call the police if we didn’t like it. When I remarked that we paid to stay there and wanted them out, he became very condescending and told me to stop making a fuss. Every interaction with Bas was tiresome, but this situation was a clear violation of our privacy and beyond disrespectful. From our arrival, he was rude, less than helpful, and arrogant. The apartment was okay, but needed a good cleaning and was not set up for travelers. Electric outlets were few and access required that we move furniture & unplug other things. Every surface was filled with bric-a-brac, which made it difficult to place a suitcase. If you value your privacy and want to feel safe, stay somewhere else.

Best place to stay in AMS

Our 4th annual trip (see previous reviews) and it continues to be the only place we stay when in AMS. Both fullu furnished apartments are consistently consistent: spacious, comfortable, well equipped and perfectly located. The owner, who lives upstairs, is gracious and accommodating. It's like 'going home'. You will not find a better accommodation or one better priced.
