Sustainable and successful transformation of the Tropenhotel!
The ‘new’ Hotel V Oosterpark (opened about 6 months ago) has spacious no-nonsense, modern (almost minimalistic) and spacious rooms with comfortable beds.
While not everything is perfect (poor lighting, no possibility to open any windows with temperature control not perfect, etc) the overall price/quality is good (for Amsterdam).
Although the hotel is not centrally located it is only a short tram ride to the Rijksmuseum etc.
Breakfast is good - although too expensive when booked separately (€27.50!!)!

Wonderful overnight stay at a high level
Upon arrival it was due to the roadworks just looking for the entrance, but once inside we were immediately kindly received and helped. The hotel looks very chic, but feels accessible and relaxed at the same time. A nice detail I liked was that they even have a sustainability deal for guests who come by public transport — a great idea.
We got a room on the 12th floor. Unfortunately it was a bit foggy, but you normally have a beautiful view of the city. What is particularly striking is that the details are correct everywhere. The customer journey actually starts when you book and continues until you check out. Even the corridors to the rooms all smell the same, which gives the whole a well-kept and luxurious atmosphere.
The room itself still feels very new and is fully equipped. The bed is lovely, the pillows are nice and the bedding is remarkably soft... not that stiffer hotel linen you often encounter.
The next morning we had breakfast at the hotel. Breakfast is on the pricey side, but you really get quality in return. You can order a variety of egg dishes that are prepared à la minute in the kitchen, which gives breakfast that little bit extra.
All in all, this is a super nice hotel in a nice location, with a luxurious look but without the typically high Amsterdam prices. Definitely a place where we would love to stay again on a next visit to Amsterdam.
