Absolutely brilliant hotel

What an absolutely fantastic gem of a hotel. Everybody made our stay feel so special and the hotel itself is absolutely wonderful. The rooms, the communal areas, the breakfast, the people - everything was absolutely brilliant. My 10 year old daughter and I felt incredibly lucky to be staying here. All staff are amazing from the reception to dining to bar to cleaning staff. So friendly and warm. In particular, both Ivan and Tina were incredibly helpful - two fantastic members to have on the front desk, who really went the extra mile. Our room was spotless and felt like time and thought had gone into it. The bed was very comfy and great facilities. This was our first time in Amsterdam, and I really can't thank everyone enough for taking such good care of us. Even though the station next to the hotel was shut, the walk to the next nearest station was only about 12 mins walk - even my 10 year old didn't complain! The closure created absolutely no issues at all, so please don't be put off. The Royal Leonardo Amsterdam exceeded our expectations, by far. Our entire stay was so relaxing and we felt incredibly well looked after. We would definitely stay here again and can't recommend this hotel enough. Thanks so much for making our trip a memorable one, for all the right reasons!

Great none city alternative

The hotel was a great non city centre alternative, although there were a one or two down sides.
On arriving in Amsterdam central I quickly found out the metro station that is located directly outside the hotel was closed for works, so we had to get off at the stop beforehand and it was a good 10/15 min walk, which when travelling with my 74 year old mum wasn’t ideal, but luckily she’s fit and healthy, so didn’t become an issue.
The reception staff were good on arrival, although our flight arrives in Amsterdam at 9.30am, we weren’t able to check in until 3pm despite our room being ready (the receptionist advised this), but it was a perfect excuse to go exploring.
We found the room (518) to be comfortable and nicely decorated, although the “door” to the bathroom was for just for decoration apparently, so neither my mum or I had any privacy when going to the toilet or shower as there is a mirror right outside the door. If the switched the mirror and the wall art it would make things a little more private.
The hairdryer in the bathroom was ok, but attached to the inside of the drawn with a stretchy cord that’s didn’t stretch, would have been perfect if I was 5ft or smaller
When I requested our room to be cleaned, the tea, sugar and creamer, or tissues in the bathroom hadn’t been replenished (this is me being really picky) but it wasn’t a problem.
Also it was my mums birthday the day after we arrived and this wasn’t mentioned in any way.
Overall I would stay here again, it’s just the little things that would make it feel much better.

Non working AC in this heatwave, offered fans to blow hot air. No espresso machine as advertised. Very disappointed.

Not good . Not worth. Refrigerator is not working properly. Bathroom is having problems. Room is not that great . Don’t keep high expectations.

Excellent hotel!

We stayed at the Leonardo Royal Hotel in a triple room, we had a great time! The room was very comfortable and clean! The breakfast was abundant (buffet style) with excellent quality food! The staff was very kind and helpful in accommodating the various needs of the guests. A special thanks to Paola.. We highly recommend the Leonardo Royal Hotel to anyone wanting to take a trip to the Netherlands! Brunella from Italy.
