I wanted to love this, but....
This is a very well-located apartment right on a lovely canal and walking distance (if you like walking) to most of the main attractions and restaurants. It was very clean, with a modern bathroom and a reasonably comfortable bed. It has been nicely decorated into a modern style. Bathroom amenities were supplied.
My 3 rating is due to the elements of this accommodation that detract from it and make a hotel room possibly a better option.
Starting with communication - I do not know what has changed for this owner (as others have mentioned good communication), but her communication with me was absolutely appalling. I sent emails, texts, messenger messages, WhatsApp messages and every other type of message I could use to her in the weeks leading up to the stay, asking some simple pre-arrival questions with no response at all. Eventually, when I tracked her down via Facebook, I got a quick message confirming I could leave my bags. After that, again, no more. I received one auto email about the stay two days prior, and when I responded asking if an earlier check-in was possible, again no response. We did not see nor hear from this owner at any stage. If there had been an issue, I am not sure how it would have been addressed.
Next those stairs! We had no trouble with them, but a more apt description of them would be ''ladder'. My very strong husband had to navigate those death trap stairs with our two medium-sized bags, and it was a struggle. If you are a little bit older or otherwise have any mobility issues, you will have serious issues with the stairs.
While there is a small kitchenette of sorts, there are no cooking facilities and no supplies. There are a few coffee capsules, but no tea, milk or sugar. If you need something self-contained, this is not it. This 'kitchenette' is not functional as a kitchenette.
The bathroom is more like a cupboard - very small. The room itself is tiny, no room to put open bags.
The neighbour is very close (door faces door), but we were lucky, and no one was in the second apartment.
I didn't suffer from the noise (I had my own good-quality earplugs), but my husband said he did, so if you are at all sensitive to noise, this may be an issue for you.
It is also not air-conditioned, and there is no ceiling fan. It was cool when we were there, but the apartment still got quite hot due to the sun directly on the building, and I can imagine summer days must be stifling.
I wanted to love this cute little place, but there are too many undisclosed impediments that future travellers need to be aware of before booking.
