Very nice hotel

Anyone who reads my Contributions knows that I never give 5 points to hotels with carpeting in the room. Otherwise I have nothing to complain about! Nice, spacious rooms, two TVs, comfortable bed and good room service. Balanced breakfast buffet. Again, attentive staff. Not quite cheap in high season.
We spent a week here father-son vacation and felt very comfortable.

Worst Christmas ever this experience.

We have booked 2 rooms for Christmas, well in advance including Christmas dinner. I was told if I booked this early, the prices would be valid. A week before we came I received an email that the prices for the Christmas dinner were higher and that we had to pay extra, I thought that was inappropriate, but there was nothing to be done. I think if you make mistakes when the hotel has accepted my booking that you will pay for this yourself. You can't do this in a store either, buy something and say on delivery the price has become higher. Christmas dinner was fine, but terribly unsociable, worst Christmas ever! Nicely set room, but it turned out that only 3 tables of 2 people had booked, 2 people had booked a bit earlier, so there were only 2 tables occupied, the hotel was otherwise empty! We thought it was absurd that we had not been called in advance by the hotel about the occupation, because then we would not have gone. The rooms are good, but we have not slept, the thermostat for the night we had set to 16 degrees, to it remained 21 degrees, scorching hot. We thought it was the underfloor heating, but a vague story afterwards that they didn't, probably hot water pipes. We couldn't even get a duvet many so hot, what a misery! De Koog and de Burg were practically closed, just a coffee bar open and that was it.
This has bought a lot of money, 1 night of 2 1 person rooms with Christmas dinner, we had tickets for a massage of the hydrojet, but upon entering it was already said that the device was broken, that also did not happen, an experience once but never again!

It's not the NET anymore

We have been there for years and were there now 4 days including the New Year. Called in advance if anything special was being done for "New Year's Eve". It's nice to really get away from it all. The booking for the restaurant had to be confirmed in advance due to number of tables.
In summary the hotel still looks the same but it is not the NET anymore. 2 bathrobes, one of which broke the loop and the other the centurion not present. Bad?? No, of course not, but you don't want to chase a cent. You want to be unburdened. The dinner (buffet) was fine taste but had nothing else to do with experience. You had to figure out for yourself that you had to get the wine from the bar. Are you standing there with 5 men at the bar waiting for staff to come to the bar. Because there were hardly any staff. Hand on your glass otherwise the little bit of wine would have evaporated before you reached your table. Others who see it and say "we had too" At the 2nd time but carefully made a comment about it. Result same little bit with the announcement that it was meant to be. The warming bins empty several times. Neither the sauces nor the warming baking said what it was. At one point we found out when we were getting wine that there were 16 men waiting because there were no tables. People dressed up for "New Year's Eve" put away in a corner with no lights or by the piano where the keys were on. "can I just come by for you" For some who sat down a little later, there was actually nothing left. Asked about it on the way out. The receptionist indicated that it had indeed not gone quite well but there were also so many last minute people bookings. How then if you have no tables and too little to serve.
Why the long story? Well just because we think it's a shame because of what it was and if this continues people will drop out. No misunderstanding. Every concept is based on a revenue model. I'm the last person you'll hear about that. But especially in the hospitality industry, the art is to "cover up" and spoil people so that you do not see and register everything.

Unlike before

Not the Greenside that t was...
The service, the food and breakfast, if you are coming for the first time, then it is now a good 3 star hotel...
But when you come there as a loyal guest, it is a disappointment... staff do their best, also Restaurant Wambinge is no longer there, you can eat there but 3 course choice menu, no more menu, outward wine list, food is good, also at breakfast bakery sandwiches instead of the real bakery, but choice sufficient in terms of toppings etc..... our corner in the conservatory was closed... seats at the bar minimal, does not invite to sit and no service constantly present... around looking for someone to help...
Rooms are good as t was...
Reception male of everything become, lady in the service, is doing well, but poor Dutch... does not understand everything English goes better... sometimes the reception helps...
But also at reception often no one to ask etc.... eg if the sauna can handle..
Conclusion now n Hotel but no more Greenside....

Quality down. Prices up

We have been coming to this hotel for years. a 4 star hotel that is no longer worth 4 stars. Once a top hotel, however, after a change of management, things do not get better. This hotel had a very cozy always well occupied lounge with nice seating areas where you could have a drink after a beach walk. Now there are a few round high tables with straight chairs. 2 small benches so you can only sit next to each other. It's like sitting in the dentist's waiting room. It was therefore not used. The staff used to walk in company clothes, now the few staff walked in their own clothes. So did the staff (1 person) in the restaurant. The drinks were recorded by the receptionist. Another Thai (?) poorly Dutch speaking lady in jeans brought the dishes. Bend on his thais with his hands in front of his chest. That's gonna irritate! This hotel once had an extensive wine list and sommelier, now there were sedges and write 4 wines on the card 2 white, 1 red and 1 rose. The once rich breakfast buffet had lost a lot of quality. Wholesale/factory level bread. The hotel was always well occupied before. Now it wasn't. Half empty parking lot, half empty restaurant during breakfast. evening only 4 or 5 tables occupied. Not surprising when your quality deteriorates so much in various respects. In short, this 4 star hotel is really not worth 4 stars anymore. Prices have not diminished.
