Friendly staff, comfortable room and bed, tasty meal and great breakfast. Hotel located right wedge of private forested area resulting in it being very quiet and with beautiful surroundings. On site dining options were great for us as on bike and didn't feel like riding our for dinner.

Beautiful location, ideal for business meetings

De Zonheuvel is a beautiful hotel located in the woods near Doorn. It is centrally located on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and is a good place for team building or conferences. There are many rooms available and you can walk in the woods. The rooms are comfortable but not too luxurious.

Disappointing!

Nice area, lots of parking space. Receptionist very friendly. Fast check in. Room was small. The beds were good. No rack or anything to put the suitcase on. No coat rack. If 2 winter coats hang in the wardrobe it was full. Very small sink. Shower well. No coffee and/or tea supply. Notification to reception: 2 channels from the TV would not work for days. Our TV did nothing. Reception indicated that this was possible because more and more channels went down. Back to reception batteries replacing the remote control. TV worked, 3 channels .
Stone cold in the room. Reported at 5:00. Answer heating is via floor and ceiling but system is super slow. 18:30 still stone cold, reported again. 8:30 p.m., reported again. Got loose heating after which it slowly became less cold. Central heating did nothing.
Restaurant nice, cozy. Breakfast top!
But by cold and faulty TV very disappointed.

1. Our bedroom had no bathroom door. How on earth do you have privacy if there is no door?
2. The pillows on the bed were lumpy + uncomfortable.

Basic hotel in stunning surroundings

I stayed here for a conference. The setting is stunning with a beautiful forest surrounding the hotel.
The hotel was sub standard. My bedroom was quite big but it was very dark. There are side lights but no way to light up the whole room. There was only one mirror above the bathroom sink which was not helpful to get ready. No chest of drawers and the only shelf was too high for me to see so I just kept my clothes in the suitcase all week. It was also cold and the heating didn’t work. I was lucky to have great hot water but my colleagues did not all fare so well.
There was dirt and a napkin under the side of my bed which I left to see what would happen. Nothing. I stayed 7 nights and my room was cleaned twice despite putting the ‘please clean’ sign on my door handle. When they cleaned the first time they left my mug with its used teabag for me to deal with
The buffet food for lunch had minimum protein. We ended up taking boiled eggs from breakfast to put on our salad.
